Pre-Surgery Checklist

As you you know there is a lot going on in my little world as of late.
With surgery less than 2 weeks away, I'm diving into full planning mode. While I'm down to one functioning leg, I'd prefer that our house doesn't fall apart, we remember to feed ourselves daily, and I am not bored out of my mind during recovery.

Image result for namast'ay on the couch

1) Research and prep quick meals
When I told Adam I was doing this he reminded me that he has fully functioning limbs and would be happy to cook (he's a keeper, ladies and gents). However, when he's working long days I don't want him to work about my usual duties of meal prepping, shopping, and cooking. So anything I can help do ahead of time to make it easier, I'm all about it.

Any suggestions on freezer or crockpot meals that you love?

2) Buy comfy lounge clothes
Have you tried the amazing things at GapBody? They make a good majority of their PJs and lounge wear out of modal, and let me tell you, there as smooth and silky as butter! I have two Gap Body boy short/cami sets that I practically live in, but I would love some cozier pants or a little hoodie to lay around in. I love these joggers!

3) Clean the house from top to bottom
Nothing relaxes me more than enjoying a squeaky clean house while my Scentsy warmer is on making our house smell SO good (fave fall scents are Cider MillHoney Pear Cider, and Pumpkin Marshmallow). However, our house could use a little TLC deep cleaning... enter weekend to do list!

I've started lots of miscellaneous projects - sewing, going through my closet, sorting and labeling Christmas decor - that I need to finally wrap them up. After that, I want my floors to shine like the top of the Crysler Building (any Annie fans out there? Buehler?).

4) Make a list of fall movies to watch
So granted I will be hopped up on some good pain meds and will be sleeping some of the time, but I am not a napper. With fall being my absolute favorite time of year, I want to bring a little bright spot into my recovery by watching some of my fall favorites:

   + When Harry Met Sally
   + You've Got Mail (pretty much anything with Meg Ryan!)
   + Runaway Bride
   + October Sky

Do you have any that remind you of fall?

5) Stock up on good books to read
I'm currently reading Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and I can barely put it down. I love being back in the world of Hogwarts! Looking for other great books to add to my library list. I'd love to stock up before being confined to the couch for a week or so! If you have any books you could barely put down, please send your recs my way!

Recently read:
   + The Girl on the Train
   + Me Before You // After You
   + Modern Lovers

On my radar:
   + When Breath Becomes Air
   + The Last Lecture
   + The Summer Before the War
   + First Comes Love
   + The Vacationers
   + All the Light We Cannot See

If you have any suggestions on recipes, fall movies, and books... help a sister out!!

Fit Bod, Fun Life SeriesWeek 3:

Setting Limits Around Food

Last night for dinner I had a veggie burger with the works (including an extra side of cheese sauce), green chili chipotle fries, and a couple pours of a great red wine.

Okay, if you’re waiting for me to say, “Pysch!”, well, I’m sorry to disappoint. I really did! And if you’re wondering why I’m not hiding in a corner trying to keep you from finding out—then that’s exactly what I want to talk to you about today. Even more than exercise habits, food choices are almost instantly classified into categories that carry an almost moral connotation to them. Think about the way we describe food choices:

“No dessert. I’m trying to be good with that upcoming event around the corner."

“I was bad last night, so it’s a salad today for me.”

“This chocolate cake is sinfully delicious.”

“It’s so bad, but it’s so good!”

But at its core, food is morally neutral. We have to eat to sustain life. Food has the capacity to bring immense pleasure. And believe it or not, the reason food brings pleasure is actually a pretty sophisticated process designed to help us stay healthy. (For more on this, check out my post "Why You’re Wired for Stress Eating”.

And here’s the real deal:
People who have entirely black-and-white views of food tend to struggle the most with poor food choices over time.

Now, OBVIOUSLY what we put into our body has a tremendous impact on not only our weight and body composition, but also on a huge range of health factors (including disease risk, mood, complexion, liver function, toxicity, metabolism, hormone regulation, etc.)

I’ve found the best approach to long-term weight-loss results—as well as having a positive, healthy body image—is to put limits around unhealthy food. But the very word “limit” implies that there is some presence of something.
Aim to limit unhealthy foods, not eliminate them.

Here are a couple practical tips for helping you create limits so that you enjoy a healthy relationship with food—one that’s hallmarked by confidence rather than deprivation on the one hand, or powerlessness on the other:

  • Rate Your Cravings: We want to avoid mindless eating, but it’s silly to deny that sometimes we prefer, say, the taste of gooey Brie to the taste of raw carrots.  If you’re presented with a food that’s not a Perfect 10 in the nutrition department, ask yourself, “How much do I really want this?” If it’s your favorite food ever, maybe it’s worth it. But if you’re eating cookies just because they’re there, there’s no reason to waste the calories on something that doesn’t bring that much pleasure.

  • Wait 15 Minutes: This trick works especially well for me when it comes to wanting seconds of something—even a healthy food—because portion control can make or break our weight-loss efforts. It takes about 15 minutes for your brain to register that it’s full after eating. Similarly, the brain can be tricked into craving food when your body is actually thirsty, or stressed, or sad. Ask yourself to wait 15 minutes, and then reevaluate if you’re either still hungry or still really craving that particular thing. Nine times out of 10, you’ll have moved on. But if you’re still obsessed…go for it!

  • Set Incremental Goals: When working one-on-one with a client’s nutrition plan, I encourage him or her to set specific goals and then to stagger the implementation of those goals. If you try to change an entire decade’s worth of eating habits on a Tuesday, you’ll probably last until about Friday and then give up. Set yourself up for the momentum of success by laying out the changes you want to make, and then scheduling those changes out over time. Give each goal a date of implementation—for example, “This week I’m going to drop down to two sodas a day, and then next week I’ll drop to one.”

  • Plan For Indulgences: I am not telling you never to have another fro-yo again in your life. That wouldn’t be very fun, and you’d get discouraged and give up anyway. But what I want is for you to be in control of your choices, so that eating something unhealthy doesn’t carry guilt or the feeling of a slip-up. The best way I know to do this is to set certain parameters in which it’s okay for you to eat foods with less nutritional content. For me, this is a standing weekly “anything goes” meal like last night’s fantastic feast at Zinburger. But you can create different scenarios that work for you, like “If I follow my training program this week for that 5K, I can get that Starbucks Frappuccino after work on Friday.”

Displaying YA.png

When you’re making food choices, the goal is to maximize your pleasure while minimizing any detrimental health risks. Don’t waste your calories on cheap junk that doesn’t satisfy you.

DO recognize that weight-loss is a slow journey—yes, you can starve yourself and lose 5 pounds this week, but we want you to be fit and happy FOREVER. This is the formula that has worked for me over the past decade, and I can’t wait for you to put it to the test!

To help you get started on eating intentionally, I’d love to invite you to download my free Healthier Workday Lunch Guide...

Fit Bod, Fun Life Series Week 1: Finding Your Fitness Sweet Spot

It's been 8 weeks since I made my New Year's resolutions of health and wellness. I don't know about you all, but I didn't just fall off the bandwagon... I willingly jumped it seems. So in an effort to re-motivate myself, and hopefully a few of you along the way, I asked my dear friend Mariah Secrest-Comer to share a healthy living series for us, and so Fit Bod, Fun Life was born!

Mariah is one tough lady! Not only is she an advanced little yogi powerhouse, but she also is a certified personal trainer and owns Elevate Mobile Fitness. Also, I want to invite you all to join me in signing-up for her FREE 14 Days to Fit Lifestyle Jumpstart, where she offers great one-on-one and group motivation to help whip in shape nutrition, fitness, and lifestyle. I did it last month and it really motivated me to be the best version of me, and I felt so encouraged!

You know you are interested in getting re-motivated! She packs 2 weeks of awesome motivation into this program and even has a private Facebook interactive group so you can share and ask questions. Check it out HERE - I know you will love it! So without further adieu...

Fit Bod, Fun Life Series Week 1:

Finding Your Fitness Sweet Spot

When it comes to staying in shape, I think there’s a piece of every girl that has a “frienemy” relationship with exercise and healthy eating.

Of course we want to have lean legs, tank-top ready shoulder cuts, and the can-do satisfaction of knowing we can bust out 15 strict-form push-ups. Of course we would sign-up for more energy, brighter skin, and increased confidence.  Of course we know we’re better off in a million ways when we’re active and eating well.

The reasons we don’t always take these things—which are ours for the taking, by the way—are equally obvious. The steps to getting healthy don’t always feel FUN. It’s not fun turning down the office birthday cake. It’s not fun to spend an hour or two of your free time on the weekends prepping healthy meals for your busy week. It’s definitely not fun turning off that 5:30 a.m. alarm to go work out before your long day.

It’s similar to saying we all would love to be millionaires, but we don’t all want to do the work required to earn a million dollars. (Gold-diggers aside! Queue my new obsession with classic movies to Marilyn Monroe’s film How To Marry a Millionaire).

The really good news, we’re finding, is that we don’t have to work at it quite as hard as we once thought, in order to have firm bodies and feel great! In fact, science has clued us in to the fact that there is actually a point of diminished returns when it comes to over-training.

Sadly, they haven’t yet told us that eating too much kale and tofu is harmful to our health—but we’ll talk about balancing food choices too later on!

My goal in this weekly series is to help you identify your health-and-fitness “sweet spot”—that beautiful measure where the rewards far outweigh the effort you put into it. This sweet spot looks different for everyone, but we all have one.

Mine lies on the gung-ho-but-not-psycho end of the spectrum. (That’s a technical term, I’m sure.) In other words, I like the rewards of exercising 5 or 6 days a week and eating lots of veggies (and even tofu) most meals of the week. This type of effort usually scores me a tummy that doesn’t bulge in weird places, the dress size I like, and--much more importantly--enough energy and mental refreshment to not turn into a nut job from stress.

But it also allows me the wiggle room to go out for Mexican or order pizza once every week or two, and a glass of wine at night (but not 3 or 4). It allows me to dial down my effort to a moderate hike or gentle cardio session for a few days if I’m feeling particularly overwhelmed or tired. Could I do these things if I were training for a bikini competition and 12-pack abs? Honestly, no. So, for me, I know that competitions and looking like a bodybuilder are not part of my plan. At least not now.

I like my balance. It works for me now, and it’s worked for me for several years. Not having to re-purchase your wardrobe every time you gain or lose weight is an added bonus of this lifestyle sweet spot!

So here’s your homework this week: Find YOUR sweet spot.
Make a list of what you want from your fitness plan, and another list of what you are (and aren’t!) willing to sacrifice to get those things. And of course, share them with the rest of us!!

Hint: you’re more likely to find staying power if you include some things that aren’t related to what you look like—for more on this, read my guest post on Meg’s blog from the fall: 5 Reasons to Workout This Week (that have nothing to do with weight...)

You don’t have to put all the pieces together at once, or totally makeover your life in one fell swoop—in fact, you probably shouldn’t. But do begin thinking about what efforts will give you the biggest payoff. After all, if you had a million dollars but had zero time to enjoy it, it wouldn’t be worth it, right? But if you can work just a little harder and a little smarter, you may find that you get to enjoy new options that make your life a LOT MORE FUN!

.:::.:::.:::.:::.

Stay tuned for week 2 of Fit Bod, Fun Life series!

In the meanwhile, definitely join me on signing up for Mariah's free 14 Days to Fit Lifestyle Jumpstart, and we can get back on track together!

More Prayers + Update

As many of you know, it has been a crazy week for my family and I feel like I know live in a hospital! :)

Before my mom's scary hospital stint this week, my brother already had his back surgery scheduled for today. My mom was going to be the one to drive him to surgery and bring him home, but now that she is recovering, our family and friends have all stepped up to lend a hand.

So thankful for the meals.
The rides.
The texts.
The support.
And of course, your prayers.

We have been very optimistic about Kelly's surgery and supportive of his decision - we just want his quality of life to go back up. My brother originally injured his back while playing Division 1 soccer in South Carolina causing chronic pain and the end of his collegiate athletic career.

He's managed the pain until re-injuring his back about 6 months ago, this time his herniated disk had ruptured causing fragments to break off and press on a large nerve in his lower back.

Since then, he is unable to feel things in his left leg (hip to ankle), it fall asleep quickly, and he's in constant pain. Not to mention the back pain to add on to it.

UPDATE // Very happy to report that he made it out of surgery okay and is now in recovery at KU. The surgeon said they successfully removed all disc fragments and he should instantly regain feeling and have lessened pain in his legs. We'll keep you posted - he will soon be moved to the neuro care unit. He's in a lot of pain, so please pray for that specifically.

Kelly will have a 6+ week recovery for his back, but he will be in good hands! Thanks all for your continued support/prayers this week with all that's been going on with my mom and brother - we appreciate each one of you!

Meanwhile, I think I should've earned my RN by now, don't you think? Haha!
Just happy to be healthy enough to take care of my wonderful family - love them.

As of 10/26/13 - Both of them are home and recovering!!

Wishing you all a wonderful and healthy weekend!

Get Paid to Gym It Up!

That post title sure caught your eye, didn't it?
It's no lie, y'all. You can get paid for every visit to the gym you make, but you have to pay up if you miss... talk about monster motivation right there!

In case you haven't heard of this fancy new smartphone app, let me fill you in! I was chatting with my amazing soon to be sister-in-law, Meredith, when she asked me if I had heard about the GymPact app yet.

Naturally, I replied with a "heck no... what is it?!", because I am usually the last one to find out about amazing techy things. She started explaining it and I was totally intrigued.

GymPact was developed by Harvard grads who were inspired by behavioral economics - pretty cool! All I know is that it would totally make me re-think skipping a sweat sesh if I knew I would have to pay up.

Yup, I signed up instantly!

______________________________________________

How It Works:

 1) Download the app - so easy!

2) Make a pact for how many times a week you go.

3) The more days you commit to, the more money you make per week.

4) Set your "fine" (the money you auto pay if you miss). Mine is $10!

5) Use your phone to check-in at the gym - get yo' money, hunny!

______________________________________________

Watch this quick minute-long video from GymPact for a more in-depth explanation...

So there you have it! Are you intrigued too?

As a soon-to-be bride, I've been trying to stay motivated and hit the gym 4-5x a week. Gotta look great in that wedding dress! So excited to have another awesome incentive to get me there!

Still contemplating?

This app is legit! Featured here on these sites:

Right now, the app is only available in full capacity to iPhone users. Droid ladies, don't you worry, you can still utilize GymPact by having it sync to your RunKeeper GPS app. Get paid to walk, hike, bike, and run!

Join me and get motivated to work your hiney off and tone up!

(...thanks for the motivation, Mere!)

The Slim Down + Cute Gear

You've seen them everywhere.
Plastered across magazine headlines, endorsing products, and on TV. Successful slim downs of real people who look and feel really good!

I can't help but be inspired by the likes of Jennifer Hudson and Kelly Osborne! They look so awesome and healthy, and they sure as heck didn't get there by sitting around and eating Christmas cookies!

So if you're like me, and you're getting back on track after the holidays, consider jumping on MyFitnessPal! I absolutely love this free online program! It has a free app for smart phones, and adds major accountability to eating right and working out! I lost 4 lbs easily (before gaining back a few the last couple weeks), so I can do it! If you're joining, friend me: LifeofMeg

{ My healthy photo motivation? Erin Andrews. }

Now we all know we can't jump on the slim down bandwagon until we gain some motivation! Naturally, it's hard to get excited about working out, but it's amazing what cute workout clothes can do...

{ Current Crushes }

Lucy Novelty Propel Knee Pant - on sale $39!

Lululemon Energy Bra - $42

Lululemon Back On Track Tank - $64

GAP gFsat Colorblock Pants - $54

Casio Solar Running Watch - $14

Bondi Band Workout Headbands (They're SO cute!) - $8

.:::.:::.:::.:::.

So there you have it... my shopping list! One thing I've learned is to not wait until you've reached your goal weight to buy workout clothes - you've got to feel cute and comfortable NOW while you're on your way there!

I'm starting 30 Day Shred tonight for the first time, and I'm really nervous/excited! I may have to place my Bondi Band order super soon.

Adam and I have decided to make running dates for Saturdays/Sundays to help us get ready for our half marathon. I'm going to need something to keep my long hair out of my face. Has anyone tried these? I need a recommendation!

Know of any great workout shopping? Help a sister out!

Calling All Yogis

Have any of you ever practiced yoga?
I've been tossing around the idea for a while as a source of extra relaxation after work, and a change in exercise. After weeks of shopping around, I was extremely excited when there was a Groupon for unlimited yoga at the studio close to my house!

Well, after a long afternoon of work yesterday, I was feeling extremely stressed out. Unfortunately for me, whenever I stress it triggers the beginnings of intense migraines. I rushed home to take my Rx, and then I thought I would check out the yoga class schedule for the evening... I was in luck!

I officially attended my first yoga class in KC last night and I completely loved it. It was challenging by deeply relaxing. I absolutely loved the deep stretching and breathing exercises throughout my 90 minute class... I'm hooked.

When I left class, my mind was at peace, I worked out my sore muscles from Monday's run, and my body felt like a big pool of melty butter. When i woke up this morning, I felt like it helped me sleep much better and deeper than normal, so I'm feeling great this morning!

Haven't tried yoga? I encourage you to buy a one class pass to try it out! It was a super non-intimidating environment, so I felt encouraged and motivated. Self-esteem boost? yes, please!

{ Any yogis out there? }
What do you love about yoga?

Also looking for recommendations on where to buy cute yoga tops/pants, and what brand of mat to buy! :)

Namaste... ohhhmmmm

Belated Blog Hop + Surgery Update

Greetings from the hospital!
As many of you read my post on Monday, I've taken off a week of work to help take care of my Daddy as he's in ICU after throat surgery.

In an attempt to add valuable entertainment while I listen to my Dad snore, I figured we need a little belated blog hop today. Just dying to read your blog posts and have something to do while my favorite patient is snoozing!

For those who have sent e-mails, messages, and comments asking how Dad is doing - thank you from the bottom of my heart. He is hanging in there - but relearning how to swallow is pretty tough, and he's a little discouraged today.

BUT we have done laps around the hospital and he is talking pretty well given the circumstances! Possible discharge for tomorrow, which is great news!

{ In honor of Dad's progress - let's mingle! }

.::::...::::...::::...::::..::::.

Pretty Pretty Please...

Pass on the Mingle love. Tell a friend. Tell your mom. Just spread the word in some way (any way!) today. If you do, I will buy you your very own snuggly puppy and bake you some homemade gooey chocolate chip cookies!

{ Deal? }

Surgery Day

Sorry I've been so MIA!
Life has been pretty crazy this past week while getting ready for my Dad's surgery. Yes, surgery. In case you missed the post, my Dad was diagnosed with advanced throat cancer in May. Since then, he has completed chemotherapy, and we are now in St. Louis as he undergoes robotic laser throat surgery.

I figured that I would share a little personal piece of my heart today in leui of Mingle Monday. All prayers and well wishes for a complicaitons-free day are so very much appreciated!

{ Madre and Padre }

{ Surgery Update }

Everything is going well so far. I feel very blessed and lucky to be a part of such a great cancer non-profit who has encouraged and provided paid time off so that I can be here with my mom and Dad. Meanwhile it's my job to keep my little brother and sister posted, as well as our friends and family at home!

We had an early morning wake-up call at 4:30 a.m. in order to get ready and have Dad checked into surgical registration by 5:30 a.m. The waiting room was hopping!

Mom and I were able to be with Dad the entire morning as they prepped him before surgery. He is in great spirits, as always, and seemed calm and ready to do a great job in surgery today. His attitude and outlook were overwhelmingly encouraging for us to see.

We got a kick out of his surgery outfit and the really cool surgical hat that the resident had taped to his head. We all had a good laugh about it - including Dad!

We said our "see you soons" and exchanged hugs and kisses around 8:10 a.m. As they were getting ready to wheel him to the OR, he was really enjoying his "liquid margarita", as the nurse jokingly called the IV anesthetic. :)

Soon after they paged us around 8:29 a.m. to say his surgery was underway. The surgical fellow said that his surgery should last around 6 hours - so he should be done around 2:30 p.m. today. We're looking forward to our afternoon post-op visit around 3:30 or 4 p.m.

{Always a Daddy's girl - circa 2009 }

We have been showered with love, support, prayers and well wishes all day long. So very thankful to have the amazing support team of family and friends.

I promise I will get back to regular posting very soon - should have a lot of time on my hands as I hang in ICU and take care of Dad all week!

Weekly Weigh-In: Week 4

It's about that time again...
I weighed myself this morning and I was super happy with the weight loss! Finally back on track after a not so stellar weigh-in last week... *phew*

I got my butt to the gym about 4 times and paid much more attention to what I was eating and portion size. I'm definitely feeling a lot better now that I have my act together, and I'm that much closer to my goal

{ Total Weight Loss = 2.2 lbs! }

For those of you doing Weight Watchers too, don't the meetings make such a difference?! I am so glad I went last week. It definitely helps re-motivate me, and I have that accountability that I don't have if I'm just doing everything myself.

Are you trying to lose weight? How are you doing?? Hang in there, friends! Everyday is a new day and you can definitely do it!

28.6 lbs to go!

7 Tips to a Skinnier You

Greetings from gorgeous, sunny Kansas City!
How's your Thursday going? Everybody doing okay? The good news is the weekend is in sight and it's absolutely beautiful here in the big KC today - hello 68 degrees!

I'm super looking forward to my post-work walk in the park with Bella Beast.

So anyway, as we make our slow decent into March, it's a little surreal to see the upcoming dates on my calendar. Knowing that my best friend's wedding is vast approaching, I've been pretty motivated to whip my bod into shape!

Well, Lord knows I am not the only one with important dates arriving soon! Whether you are also trying to get that more sleek toned little body for your wedding cruise/high school reunion/etc. I thought I would share some helpful diet/exercise tools that have been working great for me!

After all... that's what girlfriends are for, right? I hope you share tips you've learned with me too!

_______________________________________________

{ Who is motivated for the slim down? }

1) Set Realistic Healthy Goals

Last week I sat down and wrote down my goals on paper. Now I know it's really easy to think that you don't need to write them down, because you generally have them in your head.

But let me tell you... listing your goals on paper and posting them where you can see them everyday is a visual reminder to your commitment.

Every morning when I wake up and walk into my bathroom they are there. They set the tone for the day and I'm determined to reach my goal by the date listed. It makes it way easier to turn down that donut in the break room if you are committed.

2) Schedule Your Exercise Dates

Most of us working big girls know how hard it is to find the time, motivation, and energy for a post-work sweat. I recently joined the gym a few blocks from my downtown office so that I can schedule an hour-long workout during my lunch break.

I went from working out 2 days a week to 5 and it's been easy! I'm shocked! Plus the extra time and energy I gain to finish my day, and my workout is done by 5 p.m. - hello free time!

3) Accountability is Key

Whether it's finding a workout buddy or joining a weight loss group, the accountability can really help keep you on track.

Lucky for me, I signed up for Weight Watchers last week to help me be accountable for a healthier diet (it's working!). SparkPeople is a wonderful free online tool that will help you count calories with a food journal and keep track of exercise.

I also have a wonderful friend, Karen, who just happens to be my co-worker too! We love running together and working out with me over lunch. I also have a handful of good friends who will take evening classes or go on weekend walks with me and the pup!

4) Plan Ahead

If I know that I have an evening meeting or will be traveling, I like to keep healthy snacks on hand. Whether it's fruit or protein bars, when snacks are easy to grab and readily accessible, it makes it easier to turn down the junk food temptations.

5) Ask for Help

There is absolutely nothing wrong with asking for help. Whether I am in a fitness class or running with a gal pal, I treasure any tips I can get on exercise technique and tips!

I recently joined the gym a block away from work and with my gym membership I get 3 free consultations with a trainer. Today was my first session and it was SO helpful! I am more motivated than ever now!

Don't have a gym/trainer? Sign-up for a fitness based magazine subscription. I personally love getting SELF Magazine every month! Between the easy-to-follow work-outs and healthy {delicious!} recipes, it helps renew my motivation!

6) Glam It Up!

Whether you buy yourself some cute pink running shoes or new colored sports bras, remember that health is worth your investment. If buying new cute workout outfits gets you to the gym, go for it!

My current gym obsession: GAP Gym Bag

7) Try Something New

I have loved trying new classes and workouts. Switching tings up gets me excited and motivated. So, try out that spin class or start going on evening walks with a friend. Having something to look forward to will definitely spice it up.

So Thankful... I'm a Lucky Girl

Wowzaaa my friends!
Let me just tell you that it has been a particularly rough morning for sure. As most of you have read about my recent medical issues, I was called in to the neurologist this morning to do a particularly painful EMG test. For those of you who aren't familiar with this specific kind of torture, feel free to click HERE.

Anyway, my doctor basically shocked me and stabbed my arm and leg muscles with needles for a half hour. As much as it was painful, I am glad to finally have a better view of what I am facing.

As for a possible Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis, I think we've finally ruled that one out. I am being referred to a rheumatologist to continue diagnostics for Lupus or another auto-immune or blood disease. Thank you for all the messages and prayers, I love you guys so much!

Despite the rough morning, I was lucky enough to have BF by my side through the whole thing. I am not quite sure how I won the affection and love of such an amazing man, but I am so very thankful for him.

He offered a compassionate smile through the tears of the test, gave me a big hug and kiss on the forehead when it was over, and even treated me to a Starbucks {He loves me :)}.

So anyway, now I am back in the office and excited that it's finally Friday!! After having the day off to honor MLK Jr. and a snow day yesterday, I am thinking I could get use to these 3-day work weeks!

Lucky for me, Mom, Dad and Sis are driving up to visit me in good ol' KC for the weekend! Mom's birthday is on Sunday, so I can't wait for all of us + BF to go out for dinner, big girl furniture shop {wooo! More on this later...}, relax, and just have a good ol' time!

{ What fun plans do you have going on this weekend? }

From the bottom of my heart,
have a beautiful weekend!
