Time to Play in the Dirt + Weekend Wishes

The weekend forecast has been checked, our list is made, and I am ready to get my hands dirty.
This weekend it's time to plant my very first garden! A big step for the Haskins House!

Luckily, my father-in-law and hubby are both garden planting geniuses, and my mom loves to garden, so it's safe to say that I'm in good hands. I will definitely be earning my green thumb badge with this undertaking, and I can't wait to learn more about keeping our own garden.

Not to mention I have lots of cute DIY garden projects in mind like a mini potted herb garden and making adorable garden markers. Can you tell that I'm head over heels excited?

What are you crazy kids up to this weekend? Anything fun on the books?

In case you missed it...

Cheers to a weekend full of sunshine and new adventures!

This is My Year!

Happy New Year, dear friends!
I know it may seem like I feel off the face of the planet over the last 2 weeks, but I've been busy enjoying my vacation! I wanted to focus on spending quality time with my friends and family, and truly being present.

However, those following me on Instagram {new!!} or Twitter may have seen the many shenanigans and adventures while I was on my blog sabbatical. :)

But, yes I missed you all terribly and have had quite the inkling to blog while I was off holiday gallivanting!

Welcome back, loves. Can't wait to catch up!

2013 is here, can you believe it?
Where did this past year go? I can't be the only one who feels like we didn't even have Halloween... right?

Well, I've never been more excited for a new year in all my life, and I have a feeling that 2013 has so much magic in store for me!

This past year was absolutely incredible for so many reasons:

+ my dad was declared cancer free {praise the good Lord!}
+ sissy graduated from high school and began her KU adventure
+ Adam proposed at the end of June and we celebrated 3 years together
+ the many blessings of blogging
+ my parents announced they are moving to KC
+ my best friend and my SIL got married
+ we've laughed and celebrated life with our friends
+ cuddling my friends' chubby precious newborns
+ found a new church home
+ made plenty of amazing memories!

Looking back, I can see the joy and the blessings! And looking forward, I am so ready for the amazing adventures ahead...

+ I marry my best friend in 66 days. 66 days. (Come on March 9th!!)
+ nesting and making Adam's house feel so cozy/homey
+ no more goodnight farewells
+ entertaining friends and family at OUR home (woah...)
+ my parents moving to Kansas City
+ work adventures
+ fitness goals
+ getting involved in our church's children's ministry
+ volunteering
+ getting to meet my dear friend's baby in May
+ traveling to new places
+ new things for Life of Meg (hello face lift!)

...and so SO much more!

{ I have a feeling this is my year, and I plan to make it the best year yet! }

.:::.:::.:::.:::.:::.

I have lots headed your way the next few weeks - tons of photos coming, wedding updates, recipes, inspiration... and more!!

How did the holidays treat you all?
Kindly I hope! :)

Time for Vacation Shenanigans!

I just have to say that I am crawling out of my skin with excitement today! How on earth will I make it through a whole work day when my Colorado vacation extravaganza begins at 5 p.m.?!
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!

Yup, that's right friends! I am beyond excited to roadtrip with future hubs and friends to Colorado for an amazing weekend. We've done it for the last 3 years and it's always a blast. We always go out during the Great American Beer Festival, since Adam is a craft beer snob connoisseur, and it's such a great time!

We're getting smarter over the years, and have learned to make it a true vacation. Both Adam and his best friend Sean went to college in Colorado, so we love staying with Sean's amazing parents (they're complete crack-ups!) and seeing so many of our friends.

Not to mention Colorado is stunning in the fall.

But tonight will be fun! We're getting the heck out of dodge right after work, and I brought lots of car activities per the usual! And the boys may laugh/scoff at my ridiculously oversized suitcase, but hey - a girl has got to look good on vacation - can I get an amen?!

Before we know it, we should arrive around 1 a.m., get some good rest, and then the adventures can commence in the morning!

.:: Weekend Preview in Photos ::.

Can't wait to stop in CO Springs and see some of our favorites....

...drive up into the mountains to see the gorgeous Aspens and go hiking...

...head to Denver for beer fest 2012...
(aka: Adam's concept of how heaven will be one day)

...where shenanigans may or may not occur...

{ GABF Trips 2010 + 2011 }

I vow to actually document our awesome vacation with photos! I WILL get better at remembering. Promise.

.:::.:::.:::.:::.:::.

Other fun little highlights I am looking forward to...

+ morning walks with Adam
+ telling stories in the car
+ seeing The Perks of Being a Wallflower
+ going on a brewery tour in Denver with our crazy beer fanatic friends
+ brunching with Adam's cousin
+ wearing the cute outfit combos I packed (thank you Pinterest for your ideas!)
+ relaxing/mellow Saturday with open plans
+ trying new restaurants
+ spending some time at GABF trying to find the brewery
who had the beer last year that tasted like a blueberry muffin (Ha! SO GOOD!)
+ coffee in my PJs while gazing at the gorgeous mountains
+ just simply being on vacation

...so stinking ready for 5 p.m.

Anybody else want to join us?
We can pick you up on our way out of town! ;)

Just Call Us VIP

Happy hump day! The weekend is in sight... and I'm SO ready!
Well, many of you have been reprimanding me for not remembering to take photos... and rightfully so! I've been forgetting to break out my camera. But don't you worry, hopefully today's weekend recap photos will more than make-up for it!

So, a few months back, I saw a Groupon for a VIP tour of Arrowhead Stadium (where the Kansas City Chiefs play). Instantly I knew I had to buy it in order to score extra points with the future hubs... the world's biggest Chiefs fan. ;)

This tour went above and beyond the standard one they offer to the public, so we got to see/learn some really neat things! After booking it several months ago, this past weekend was our super fun tour and we had an absolute blast!

We went out on the field, saw executive suites, the locker rooms, threw a football on the field, and had a good ol' time together. Life is always more fun when you share in each other's interests, and adventure side by side.

.:: Our VIP Tour ::.

1) Adam was having a good old time tossing the football around on the field. Woo, what a stud! 2) It was so nice to spend a beautiful morning outside at the stadium and adventure together. 3) The tunnel that the teams run out onto the field... pretty cool!

4) We got our photo on the field... after I scored a touchdown, of ocurse. 2) The old school locker rooms that have been around for decades. 3) Look at that happy man. Go Chiefs!

.:::.:::.:::.:::.:::.

I hope you got your photo fill for a bit!

I'm headed to the Buzz Under the Stars concert tonight here in KC, so I will keep you all informed via Twitter on how awesome it is! I can't wait to see FUN perform live. I bet you $10 you recognize this song, but I am really hoping they play this doozy...

Full concert recap will be here tomorrow! Also tomorrow, Adam and I are heading on a roadtrip to Madison this weekend, so I'll have to share all of the fun mischief we plan on getting into... yikes!

Happy Wednesday, Chickadees!

Calling All Yogis

Have any of you ever practiced yoga?
I've been tossing around the idea for a while as a source of extra relaxation after work, and a change in exercise. After weeks of shopping around, I was extremely excited when there was a Groupon for unlimited yoga at the studio close to my house!

Well, after a long afternoon of work yesterday, I was feeling extremely stressed out. Unfortunately for me, whenever I stress it triggers the beginnings of intense migraines. I rushed home to take my Rx, and then I thought I would check out the yoga class schedule for the evening... I was in luck!

I officially attended my first yoga class in KC last night and I completely loved it. It was challenging by deeply relaxing. I absolutely loved the deep stretching and breathing exercises throughout my 90 minute class... I'm hooked.

When I left class, my mind was at peace, I worked out my sore muscles from Monday's run, and my body felt like a big pool of melty butter. When i woke up this morning, I felt like it helped me sleep much better and deeper than normal, so I'm feeling great this morning!

Haven't tried yoga? I encourage you to buy a one class pass to try it out! It was a super non-intimidating environment, so I felt encouraged and motivated. Self-esteem boost? yes, please!

{ Any yogis out there? }
What do you love about yoga?

Also looking for recommendations on where to buy cute yoga tops/pants, and what brand of mat to buy! :)

Namaste... ohhhmmmm

Let the Magic Begin!

Why Good Mornin'!!
I woke up so unbelievably happy this morning. Why you ask? Well my alarm went off and I reached my hand out of my super cozy bed, grabbed my phone, and found a message from my super sweet co-worker friend that read:

"No work... SNOW DAY!! :)"

Instant smile.

So naturally I sent a text to BF, Mom and Dad, and all my fave friends. This girl has a snow day and I am ready to do something FUN to celebrate! WOOP WOOP!

With a predicted 15-20 inches of snow, I might be here awhile! I thought I would share my snow day plans with you via these fabulous photos.

.:: Right now I am... ::.

+ in my PJs
+ snuggling with Bella Beast
+ getting ready to watch The Bachelor (Go DVR!)

.:: I am looking forward to... ::.

+ trekking to BF's house
+ making cinnamon rolls for him and his roomies
+ hanging with my friends all day
+ watching movies

(did you see those headwraps up there? ;) yay!)

Grab Your Needles, It's a Blizzard!

Greetings from snow laden Swtizerland Kansas City!
Yes, at this exact moment in time I am looking out my giant living room window to see fluffy, beautiful snowflakes falling. Actually I make it sound quite a bit more whimsical than needed... IT'S A BLIZZARD!!!

So naturally I am sitting here sipping my yummy green tea and dreaming about a potential snow day tomorrow. I mean with a predicted 5-9 inches here in the metro, they can't expect me to trek through all of that at -heaven help us!- 7 a.m.?!

Anyway, as I dream about my lovely *hopeful* snow day, the thought of a cozy new hobby is now stuck in my mind...

Don't snow days + hot chocolate + crocheting go hand-in-hand? I think so. Especially after viewing several gorgeous items like these babies on my beloved Etsy...

Calling all knitter/crocheters! I need your help! I would prefer to go back to crocheting, because that's what I originally learned, but I am also up for a challenge. Which one do you like better?

If I can dig myself out of my little cozy igloo of a home, I am going to raid Hobby Lobby for some pretty yarn and a needle or two! What size of needle should I get?

Clueless in Kansas City...

{HELP!}

PS- Do you love recipes and blog hops? Head on over to visit my gal pal Trish! She is hosting her What's Cookin' Wednesday and I love it. It's totally a Meg staple!

Enjoy my favorite version of "Auld Lang Syne"
from Sex & The City...

Love.

I know I'll be ringing in 2011 via amazing costume party... can't wait! I hope you plan to welcome the New Year in style! See you at the start of next week for some Mingle Monday... 2011 style!

Happy New Year, Lovelies!

Ringin' In The New Year: Nickelodeon Style!

Yes, you read that write... Nickelodeon style!
Due to my overwhelmingly creative boyfriend and his ex-frat boy roomies, the guys have decided to host another New Year's Eve theme party. This year, we're rolling back to 90's Nick!

So what all does a 90's Nick New Year's Eve party entail? Oh baby! Let me fill you in on the fun...

+ 90's Nickelodeon character costumes
+ countdown to a food fight (outside) at midnight
+ kiddie food... think chicken nugs (yum!) and puppy chow
+ best costume awards
+ lots of games, music, and fun!

Yes, everybody attending will be dressed as their favorite 90's Nick character, so I bet you're wondering what I've decided on, right? After hours of reminiscing about Rugrats, Legends of the Hidden Temple, Alex Mack and Clarissa Explains It All, I have finally landed on the perfect costume selection for me...

{ Patty Mayonnaise! }

Okay, so I had the costume idea down, but then it was time for some costume inspiration! Thanks to my trusty friend, Google Images, I found my do's and don'ts of Patty Mayonnaise costuming...

Behold the "Do's":

And the Don't (Yes, just one...)

So anyway, thank you random internet examples, your [non-skanky] costumes have inspired me to find my inner Patty! Can't wait to share photos with you guys!

I've got the short blonde wig, so now it's time to dig out a cute skirt and glue felt polka dots onto a sweater - hahaha! And where on earth do I find pink Chuck Taylors on such short notice... help!

Enough about our semi-Halloween awesome New Year's Eve bash... what are your plans to ring in the New Year?

PS- A big thank you to all of you who left encouraging words yesterday on my health scare diagnostics post. You all are so wonderful and each one of your comments meant the world to me! Hoping for a correct diagnosis soon! xo
