Gratitude + Life Lately in Photos

Oh my goodness, I swear I'm alive...
It feels like I've been running in a million directions between being in Minneapolis for 5 days, Wichita this past weekend, and then we've had a massive snow storm, but I'm finally home and back at it!

So, despite being a little preoccupied, I have lots to catch you up on and such a thankful heart today.

Dear Minnesota //
Even though the weather was insanely cold with a -35 degree windchill, I had the best time. Thankful for Baby Norah smiles, spontaneous trips to the MOA, chats with my cousin, and endless lazy mornings in our jammers with homemade lattes in hand.

Dear Besties //
We had the very best time catching up and spending time with you in Wichita. I feel so fortunate to have such wonderful nourished friendships that have lasted since grade school.

Dear Snow Day //
I needed you. What a nice time to be stuck inside starting our bedroom revamp project and spending time with my hubby. The reminder to slow down and soak in the relaxing moments was just what I needed to do. My heart was so happy to have time to tinker around in the kitchen making turkey chili and one of Adam's favorite recipes, Citrus Glazed Almond Poppy Bread.

Dear Grandpa //
You sure are a firecracker. Adam and I loved visiting you for a few hours and hearing your wild stories. As soon as we got in the car we talked about how we could have stayed and chatted with you all day long. I sure wish we could have. See you again very soon... promise.

Dear Hubs //
I am so grateful for how ambitious and hard working you are. Although we haven't seen each other much these past few weeks due to your business trips, I am so very proud of you. Excited for the future and blessed beyond measure with how well you provide for our little family.

Dear Blog Friends //

The wonderful folks at Longhorn Steakhouse generously sent over a gift card for me to try out their new menu! We invited my parentals to join us, and loved absolutely everything that hit our taste buds! Plus, they now have a Flavorful Under 500 menu, so Longhorn Steakhouse is a win/win for everyone! Fantastic evening.

Life has just been a tiny bit busy as of late! Work has been absolutely nuts and I've been traveling a ton this week... phew. I thought I'd fill you in on what's made life awesome as of late...

//Laughing

Sister completely had me rolling when we walked into my parents house for a Cinco de Mayo bash on Sunday. Full blown sombrero and everything. And then we decided to have a little fun with Bella Beast. Muchas cervezas...

//Eating

So we live within a mile of a Dairy Queen... heaven help our waistlines.
Sunny spring weather just gives me dipped cone cravings, I can't help myself! Thankfully it's not too big of a hit to the calorie bank. Maybe we should actually try walking there sometime to pre-burn those calories... sheesh.

//Loving

Everything is in full bloom at the Evans household, and I've got green thumb fever! I especially love these happy irises that bloom around our mailbox. So pretty!

Looking forward to buying a hibiscus tree to put on our deck. I also can't wait to plant some pretty blooms in the adorable Crate and Barrel planters we got for a wedding gift. Our front porch will look so precious!

//Buying

I called my parents this morning on the way to the office from an early cancer board meeting. Those two cute kids were bee boppin' around Kansas City garage sale-ing and asked if they should keep their eyes out for anything for me. I told them that I would love more patio furniture for our deck...

Five minutes later they came across these adorable, colorful, 2-year-old Adirondack chairs (originally $140/each from World Market). I told them I wanted them if they were at a decent price... and for $40 for all, I walked away with a steal of a deal! Thanks Marlo and Juju!

I can't wait to turn our awesome backyard deck into a beautiful patio oasis. Garden lights. Fire pit. Pretty plants. Colorfull prints. S'mores. Brewskis. Yup, spring/summer is well on it's way to being awesome.

I can't believe it's been two months from our wedding today. Best 60 days ever.

Life is crazy. And beautiful.

Life Lately in Photos + Sneak Peek

Life has been pretty crazy fun lately!
There is so much going on and tons of fun photos/stories to share lately. I can't believe I haven't been keeping you up-to-date... bad Meg! And when did I start talking in 3rd person?

Anyway... brace yourself for quite the slew of randomness, but there is a BIG secret/surprise at the very end. Totally worth it, or at least I like to think so.

So Valentine's Day (or Love Week, as I like to celebrate for 7 days straight) was a fun little whirlwind! We typically don't do anything too extravagant and don't do gifts. We prefer to spend money on an experience and focus on celebrating how much love we're blessed with.

We love to rotate what we do every year, and take turns planning. Last V-day, we went to a nice gourmet dinner at Cafe Trio on the Plaza, and this year we stayed in, cooked dinner, drank wine...

...and then Adam surprised me with an iPad.

No big deal.

 { Wait, what? }

Yup.

He completely blew me away by generously gifting me an iPad to encourage how much I love to blog.

On a whim.

Just because.

Blown. Away.

{and slightly addicted to my new gadget already!}

I made fudgey heart-shaped brownies that were so tasty, several people asked for my recipe...

...and then I showed them a photo of

the Betty Crocker Chocolate Chunk Brownie Mix box.

Which simply goes to show that if you make things look pretty, and plop them on a nice plate, you can fool anyone. ;)

Life is going well and we can hardly believe the big day is 17 days away. I can honestly say I am not stressed out at all (which is the best feeling ever), and can focus on enjoying the moments.

Can I just say, we are complete and utter weirdos...

If anyone witnessed the chaos of text messages and emoticons between future hubs and me, they would bring us straight to the nut house.

I guess the good news is at least we get each other. That way I don't have to be loony all by myself.

Right?

Meet me furry little nephew, Zeus!

Yup, broski got a Husky/German Shepherd puppy who is an insane little ball of energy and way too cute!

Beast loves playing with him... as long as he refrains from trying to make babies with her randomly. In the middle of the living room. In front of the whole fam.

.:: Newest Obsessions ::.

+ Instagram.

After Adam gifted me an iPhone for Christmas, I am now able to take quality photos and be engrossed in y'alls daily photos. This is too fun! Why on earth didn't I get on Instagram sooner? I'm so behind the curve.

+ Coffee Protein Shakes.

This little blonde definitely needs her fair share of caffeine in the morning to get going. Well, I've recently discovered the beauty of mixing my Tera's Whey Chocolate Protein with a splash of milk, handful of ice cubes, and a tablespoon of mocha coffee creamer. Heaven, I tell you. Pure coffee heaven.

+ Bachelorette Party Anticipation

My sister is the world's BEST MOH.

She may be 19, but that girl sure knows how to plan amazing shindigs! We're headed to Adam's family's cabin 2 weeks from today with 13 or my favorite people. I could not be more thrilled to have the surprises they've been planning revealed. Cannot. Wait.

+ New Heart Rate Monitor

I was given the HRM I had been lusting after over Christmas from my almost in-laws, and I am loving it!! You wear the HRM under your sports bra, and you wear the watch that calculates your exact calorie burn and heart rate.

It's amazing how wrong the machines at the gym are about calories (they said my burn was much higher, so now weight loss is much easier)! So glad I know my personalized exact number, and now push myself even harder!

+ Invites Going Out Today!!

Over Christmas, my sister and two of my bridesmaids help me address every invitation (I owe them BIG time). I am in love with the way they turned out, and am so thankful my cousin is a funky graphic designer with modern off-the-wall taste like me! So SO excited to check that off the list! :)

+ My Dress Arrived

I tried on my dress after my wedding hair trial right before Christmas. Shockingly, the updo I went with (which was very pretty) didn't quite fit with my dress. Once I took my hair down, all was right in the world. My shoulders didn't feel so bare and I felt pretty.

I never in a million years thought my wedding do would be down, but it's just lovely with the dropped back of my dress. Can't wait to try out a new style!

+ We're Officially Registered

We checked off registering on our to do list over Christmas! We have a few things to add, but it feels so good to have that done. We both actually had a blast doing that together.

Adam may or may not have registered us for a little kids Big Wheel (see Instagram). Lordy, that boy is so sneaky!

+ Working on Little Projects

Now recruiting wedding helpers! I keed... I keed...

There are lots of fun crafty projects to do over this next month. Kids packs. Candy bag labeling. Framing signs. Finalizing other design items with my awesome cousin. I love projects!

.:: Misc. Items ::.

+ Roomies

I officially moved into my parents' new KC condo (yes, they're moving to Kansas City at the end of the month!) over Christmas. It's a great way to save money before the wedding and spend quality time with two of my absolute favorite people... Marlo and Juju (dad + mom).

+ Nesting

Adam's roomies, our amazing buddies, are all moving out of Adam's house by the end of February, which means we can begin painting/decorating! We could not be more excited to make his bachelor pad feel cozy and welcoming.

I've been scheming of home design inspiration via Pinterest, and we're both so excited. We're definitely on the same page and have the same taste in decor, so this will be fun and easy.

Not to mention, we've helped a million trillion dear friends paint in the last 3 years, so we have tons of project volunteers! I pay in donuts and beer in case you'd like to join our crew... ;)

+ Workout Junkie

Yup, it's finally hit me. This wedding is really going to happen in 65 days and I get to marry my very best friend in a gorgeous fitted gown. You'd better believe I am motivated to be the best me I can be! I can't wait to feel even more confident when I walk down the isle or am frolicking on the beaches of Antigua.

Happy Friday + Life Update

Friday has fianlly arrived - hello weekend!!
My goodness, this short week has been jam-packed for me work-wise! I'm so sorry I've totally been MIA. With wedding things in the evening (ave the dates going out Monday!), I have been a bad little blogger.

This weekend I will have plenty of time to let me creative juices flow and get back to my love affair with blogging

Let's move on to the weekend, shall we?

My mom and dad are driving up for a weekend in Kansas City today. I can't wait to see both of them, and get in some much needed fam time. It's been a long time since we've had a whole wide-open weekend to whatever we feel like, so I am very excited to host them (and their puppy Millie!) for a few days!!

{ Life Update }

1) Wedding pallooza is in full swing!

Bridesmaids dresses are getting ordered, had tons of cake tastings (still can't decide!), florist and DJ are booked, and hotel blocks are almost done - amazing!

2) Our save the date postcards are going out to close friends/fam this week!

We're so excited! Love the way our style and aesthetic came through.... but my hand is seriously permanently crampy from addressing a bajillion of those guys!



3) I have an unhealthy addiction to Honey Boo Boo...

If you haven't caught the show yet, it is hilarious. I found myself cracking up while I was by myself in my living room. We're talking full blown laughter... pretty sure Bella Beast thinks I'm crazy!

4) My poor sweetie has the flu bug :(

It's been a pretty crazy/tough last month for him, and now he's got the flu. Poor guy deserves a break! Not to mention I just want my hugs and snuggling back, but we had a strict 6 foot radius at all times last night.

5) I desperately need to get in the gym.

Weight loss and exercise plans for fumbled when I had my 2 week long wisdom teeth saga. Why is it that when you get out of your gym habit, it's so hard to get back into it? *sigh* Must find time to gym this weekend. Dress arrives in December... woah.

6) Loving this cooler weather - hello fall!

I'm craving all fall things... boots, scarves, warm tea, pumpkin goodies, fall baking - you name it, I love it.

7) Engagement photos our next week...
