I'm Alive + Life Lately in Photos

Did you think I completely forgot about you?

Who moi?
No way, Jose.

Life has just been a tiny bit busy as of late! Work has been absolutely nuts and I've been traveling a ton this week... phew. I thought I'd fill you in on what's made life awesome as of late...

//Laughing

Sister completely had me rolling when we walked into my parents house for a Cinco de Mayo bash on Sunday. Full blown sombrero and everything. And then we decided to have a little fun with Bella Beast. Muchas cervezas...

//Eating

So we live within a mile of a Dairy Queen... heaven help our waistlines.
Sunny spring weather just gives me dipped cone cravings, I can't help myself! Thankfully it's not too big of a hit to the calorie bank. Maybe we should actually try walking there sometime to pre-burn those calories... sheesh.

//Loving

Everything is in full bloom at the Evans household, and I've got green thumb fever! I especially love these happy irises that bloom around our mailbox. So pretty!

Looking forward to buying a hibiscus tree to put on our deck. I also can't wait to plant some pretty blooms in the adorable Crate and Barrel planters we got for a wedding gift. Our front porch will look so precious!

//Buying

I called my parents this morning on the way to the office from an early cancer board meeting. Those two cute kids were bee boppin' around Kansas City garage sale-ing and asked if they should keep their eyes out for anything for me. I told them that I would love more patio furniture for our deck...

Five minutes later they came across these adorable, colorful, 2-year-old Adirondack chairs (originally $140/each from World Market). I told them I wanted them if they were at a decent price... and for $40 for all, I walked away with a steal of a deal! Thanks Marlo and Juju!

I can't wait to turn our awesome backyard deck into a beautiful patio oasis. Garden lights. Fire pit. Pretty plants. Colorfull prints. S'mores. Brewskis. Yup, spring/summer is well on it's way to being awesome.

//Listening

Cannot get enough Of Monsters and Men or Alpha Rev. We have this song on repeat at su casa...

//Celebrating

I can't believe it's been two months from our wedding today. Best 60 days ever.

Life is crazy. And beautiful.
It's all about the simple things, my friends.

There is so much joy to be experienced, you just have to be looking in the right places...

Today's Snapshot

One more day, folks! Just one more day!
I couldn't be more ready for a nice weekend in Wichita this weekend with Adam and my family. Should be filled with many of our favorite people!

In other news, I really enjoyed answering all of your questions yesterday and could relate to many of your wonderful comments - love you all! If you missed it, check it out here... so questions made me blush! :)

On to today...

{ Here's a little snapshot... }

{ Weather }
It's been completely gorgeous this week, but today the rain has set in. You won't find me complaining though, rainy day are my absolute fave!

{ Drinking }
Coffee. I am notorious for getting a hot cup of joe in the morning and sipping on it all day - I love it cold! My mom thinks that's totally gross, but I love it.

{ Listening }
Florence + the Machine. Cannot. Get. Enough.

{ Eating }
Lunch!! I'm starving already. Turkey and hummus sandwich on whole grain bread, sunchips, apple. Yummm.

{ Wearing }
Well lately the office has been freezing, even though it's in the 70s outside. So, I'm wearing my favorite dark wash skinny jeans from The Limited and my lightweight boyfriend sweater from the GAP (surpirise, surprise...). Love those stores!

{ Feeling }
Sleepy! We did a sushi bday dinner for our dear friend, Sean, last night, then saw 21 Jump Street (which was completely hilarious!!). I got home at 11:30 p.m. and crashed. Let me just say that the 7 a.m. alarm was ride awakening this morning.

{ Wanting }
I would love to have a little extra shopping money! So many cute dresses, skirts, flowy spring tops, swimsuits, and jewelry that I'm in love with. BUT, alas, I am not allowed. I have put myself on a spend free diet until all the weddings die down in the next 2 months. *sigh*

{ Needing }
I'm in desperate need of some new running shoes! My life was changed last year when I went to the custom running shoe store, where they watch you run, check out your old shoes to see where they wore down, and recommend the perfect shoe.

I felt like I was running on fluffy clouds after I bought new shoes last year, but with all the miles I've put on them... I'm well overdue for shoes that aren't broken down!

{ Thinking }
I can't wait for date night tonight! I'm heading to Zumba for a good workout, then Adam and I are going to make breakfast for dinner... brioche french toast, eggs, fruit, and bacon from the fresh farmer's market downtown. Yumm. Looking forward to snuggling and being lazy after dinner, maybe some board games will show up!? :)

{ Enjoying }
I love quiet days in the office. Not too many people here, my phone isn't ringing off the hook, and minimal e-mails. It feels good to be able to breathe and get things down in a more laid back atmosphere. Love it.

Catch-up Sesh

It's about time for a little catch-up sesh, eh?
Good grief, work has been so insane lately that I have been traveling constantly! It makes me really bummed when I don't get to post for days on end, so let's remedy this situation.

I figured the best way to catch ya'll up is give you a juicy [random] scoop... so grab a cup of coffee and a tasty biscotti. Time for some girl chat!

1) Confession.

I'm back on the Weight Watchers train. This lucky little blonde packed on a good 8 lbs. after taking a steroid based medicine this spring, and I can't seem to shake it. I know what has worked so well for me before, so I have resorted to good ol' WW online.

Progress? -2.2 lbs. this week - yyeeessssss!!

2) Who eats greek yogurt here?

Can ya'll PLEASE make me like it more?! I know it is SO good for you and is packed full of protein and calcium, but I am really struggling here. Any tips/tricks? Maybe I am buying the wrong kinds?

3) Exercise... doctor's orders.

I went to see my fabulous rheumatologist on Monday, and after another rundown, she now wants me to ease my potential fibromyalgia/rheumatoiud arthritis symptoms by exercising everyday. EVERY day. 45 minutes minimum.

I guess I don't have an excuse to skip out on the gym now, eh? ;) I just wish it would stop being a blazing inferno outside, so I could take Bella on a long jog or something! Good grief.

4) I'm out of control.

Do you ever have one of those weeks where it feels like your emotions have gone haywire? Yup, that's me this week. Last night I had a mini emotional overload breakdown last night, and it just felt so good to cry and get it out.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who has occasional hormone issues. Anyway, I feel so bad for my sweet BF. Luckily for me, he's not going anywhere and was a great comfort last night. I love that man.

5) Can't wait!!

Every Thursday evening is date night with my sweetheart, and every Thursday I get so excited about our plans! It could be ordering take-out and watching a Redbox, or going out on the town, but every single week I look forward to that quality alone catch-up time with my other half!

Where are we going this week? We're headed to a fun little restaurant that just opened within the last month! The menu looks to die for, so I'm pretty pumped (and saving some WW points to use for some yum-yums tonight!).

After that? Off to the movies to see if we can catch a good flick. I STILL have not seen HARRY!!! Fail.

6) Vacation time = much needed.

Next Wednesday evening, BF and I are taking off for the Lake of the Ozarks, for a relaxing vacay with my fam. I am so excited to spend time with my parents, my siblings, and Adam just relaxing and enjoying each other.

Looking forward to fun days in the sun riding jetskis and soothing nights nestled around the fire pit. Smores are a given. Come on Wednesday!! I need you to get here now!

.:::.:::.:::.:::.:::.

{ What's new with you?! }
Any greek yogurt issues or emotional breakdowns? No? ;)

Kisses chicas!

Life is Good

Ahhh!!! I've missed ya'll so much!
First off, let me get this out there so you know why i have been a little MIA. My Daddy was diagnosed with throat cancer a few weeks back and this week is his first chemo week. Needless to say I have been distracted, but everything is going well! He's such a superhero!

Despite these crazy little bumps in the road. Life is too sweet not to focus on the good things. So, let's catch up shall we? Here's what makes me heart so happy and I've been dying to share...

1) I'm in love.

- Yes, I know I have been dating BF for almost 2 years, but I fall a little more in love everyday... *sigh* I feel so blessed to have someone love me so unconditionally, despite my craziness and emotional breakdowns. I couldn't be more thankful to have someone hold my hand through life's hard times, and celebrate the good ones.

2) Brother is HERE!

- My little broski moved to the big KC yesterday so that he could hang with his sister (or work his first awesome big boy job?!)! Couldn't be more excited to have one of my very favorite people doing life with me here in the big city!

{Sibling Love - Christmas 2010}

3) Livestrong Sporting Park opens tonight!
- I've grown up a complete soccer fanatic, so I was definitely all in when BF, Brother, and a close friend decided that we should get season tickets. The brand new multi-million dollar stadium opens tonight and we can't wait to enjoy tailgating and the first game!

4) This weekend = R-e-l-a-x-a-t-i-o-n!

- Although I am working one of our fundraising events on Friday, I'm looking for a mini date night afterwards. BF is leaving for bachelor weekend, so it will be fun to catch up before he heads out! Saturday is a community volunteering project, followed by some pool time, and Sunday is a girl date with my sweet friend Erin! Bring it on.

5) My Dad = Superhero

- Seriously, this man is awesome. It's the last day of chemo this week and now he gets to rest and recover! Hang in there, Daddio! You're doing SO great! :)

5) Despite the curve balls, life is so so good.

- I'm very thankful to have such supportive friends and family! I've received gorgeous surprise bouquets of flowers just letting me know people are thinking of me and praying for my sweet Daddy. The heart of life is good, so I have to keep striving towards optimism!

Here's my little life theme song. If I was in a movie, I would want this to be the culminating movie moment movie song. Completely love it.

.:: Missed you to pieces! ::.

Tell me what's going on with you? Excited about life?
