Grab Your Needles, It's a Blizzard!

Greetings from snow laden Swtizerland Kansas City!
Yes, at this exact moment in time I am looking out my giant living room window to see fluffy, beautiful snowflakes falling. Actually I make it sound quite a bit more whimsical than needed... IT'S A BLIZZARD!!!

So naturally I am sitting here sipping my yummy green tea and dreaming about a potential snow day tomorrow. I mean with a predicted 5-9 inches here in the metro, they can't expect me to trek through all of that at -heaven help us!- 7 a.m.?!

Anyway, as I dream about my lovely *hopeful* snow day, the thought of a cozy new hobby is now stuck in my mind...

Don't snow days + hot chocolate + crocheting go hand-in-hand? I think so. Especially after viewing several gorgeous items like these babies on my beloved Etsy...

Calling all knitter/crocheters! I need your help! I would prefer to go back to crocheting, because that's what I originally learned, but I am also up for a challenge. Which one do you like better?

If I can dig myself out of my little cozy igloo of a home, I am going to raid Hobby Lobby for some pretty yarn and a needle or two! What size of needle should I get?

Clueless in Kansas City...

{HELP!}

PS- Do you love recipes and blog hops? Head on over to visit my gal pal Trish! She is hosting her What's Cookin' Wednesday and I love it. It's totally a Meg staple!

  2. I love to knit! I've tried crochet, but I never picked it up the way I did with knitting.

If you want to knit, I recommend getting a few different sized needles, as well as some different weighted yarn (some really thin yarn, and some really thick, heavy yarn), then experiment with the different needles and different yarn. They'll all give you a totally different look. Really thin needles will get you a really tight, close, small stitch, and big thick needles will do the opposite.

Start with some basic stitches first, just to get the general idea of how to do it, then expand on that knowledge. And have fun!

If you have any crochet tips, send 'em my way because I'd love to learn!

Oh, and stay safe and enjoy the snow. Keeping my fingers crossed that you'll get a snow day! :-)

  6. I can knit and I sort of know how to crochet but I never really picked it up that well.
I echo what Stevie said about the differnt types of yarn/needles. Just try several and see what you like best.

But, I think if you end up crocheting/knitting that headband you should have a giveaway! It's adorable! :)

  11. I knit and crochet, but let me tell you crocheting is SO much easier! I feel like I am getting more done when I crochet and don't feel as frustrated. In knitting you have to manage the whole piece the whole time. With crocheting, you only have to keep up with one loop.

Let me know if you pick up crochet!!

  12. I'm trying to learn to crochet and I just can't pick it up. I think my yarn is too thick and crazy to learn all the funny little stitches. Good luck with your projects! xoxo, Kels. PS. Have you entered my giveaway yet?? :)
