Nashville - Any Recommendations?

The countdown is officially on.

Next month, the hubs and I are all taking off for a nice long weekend in Nashville. Call it a belated anniversary trip, or simply just an epic need to quench my adventure cravings, but I can hardly contain myself

I really wanted to take my first transatlantic flight to visit my sister who is studying in Europe, but the timing sadly didn't quite work out. However, I've been pathetically living vicariously through her travel photos via #sissygram on my Instagram - her photos are gorgeous!

So anyway, I've got the travel bug and I'm ready to go explore the East Side, become besties with Taylor, and indulge my inner fat kid at the local feed scene (read: donuts). My good friend Jules told us about the Nashville Escape Game, and it's already made the list! So. stinking. pumped.

We don't know the city that well, though, so I'd love to ask: Do you have any recommendations of fun things to do? Places to stay? Restaurants? Shops? Day trips or hikes? We would LOVE to hear!

Thanks in advance for your awesome tips!

  3. This sounds like a great getaway!!! I haven't been to Nashville, but it's definitely on my list of places. Do you watch the show "Nashville"? Visit the Bluebird cafe and see if you run into any famous people!!

  4. Definitely drive out to Franklin if you can....beautiful drive, good food and some cute shops. My favorite thing was hanging out in all the little hole in the wall bars and hearing the "want to be" performers.

  5. Nashville is the best! If there was one thing I could recommend to anyone visiting, it would be breakfast/brunch at the Pancake Pantry! Seriously. I can't stress it enough. It's completely worth the wait in line...and the line stretches around the building.

  6. I absolutely fell in love with Nashville when we were there last year - I can't wait to go back! Definitely do The Escape Game (make sure to get your tickets early), check out Franklin for super cute and boutiquey shopping and restaurants, hit up Broadway for honky-tonk bars and fabulous live music, and eat as much friend chicken as humanly possible. The food is OUTSTANDING! Also, you would adore the coffee shop Frothy Monkey. There are multiple locations - and they have a drink called a Monkey Mocha. It's delish! I can't wait to hear what you think! I know you're going to fall head over heels just like I did!

You will absolutely love Nashville - we seem to go once a year now. I would do your best to get a hotel downtown as everything is along Broadway. If you can't get a hotel there, Brentwood is close and the hotels are very nice as well. Check out the Loveless Cafe, Jack's BBQ, Opry Mills Mall (outlets!), Bluebird Cafe, just to name a few. I've posted a few times about our travels there if you need any more ideas, just ask!

  13. Pancake Pantry is the very top of our list. We plan to wear ultra stretchy pants that day! ;) We are getting in on Friday morning, so we may make that our first stop so we avoid the weekend brunch crowd. Any favorite flavors we should try?

  15. OMG, yes to The Escape Game after hearing how much you and Guthrie loved it! And you totally know we are going to need to get together for the complete scoop. I wrote down your drink order from Frothy Monkey after rereading your blog, because the shot of banana syrup in a mocha sounds amazing! :) Thank you!

  16. I've heard awesome things about Loveless! How far is that outside of downtown Nashville? I know it's west of Franklin, so maybe we will ht that up on the way there or on the way back!

  19. We always seem to go in the fall and I go with the sweet potato pancakes, but I don't think they'll be in season right now. The strawberry pancakes are beyond amazing, too. They're cold, which sounds weird, but really the pancakes are warm and the compote is cold and it's perfection! ENJOY!
