Charleston Recommendations Needed

I'm looking for some expert advice on where to wine, dine, and shop in Charleston, South Carolina, and I knew you guys could help a sister out!

My bestie, Lindsey, is heading there in two weeks for an all-expenses paid trip, thanks to her awesome Scentsy business. So, I promised Linds that I would consult my knowledgeable panel of experts (that's you!).

Where should she go?
What are the must visit spots?

  1. Magnolias to eat and The Boone Plantation for sure!

    1. I second Magnolias. If she has never tried a fried green tomato - that is the place to try it! :-)

  2. You should ask Kelly @ .. She lives there & could probably give you really good advice! :)

  3. Red or RB's on Shem Creek is so good!!!!

  4. i lived in charleston for a year and loved it :)
folly is the party beach but isle of palms is the prettiest... sullivan's island is nice too but you have to walk far to reach the ocean (a lot of sand)
i agree with hannah, the bars on shem creek are fun
my favorite restaurant was the mustard seed
go to one of the many plantations
shopping, dining, and market street downtown
    the aquarium is fun too

  5. I cant wait to visit Charleston!! Im going to keep an eye on comments so I know where to visit! Have fun! Erica

  6. i tweeted you earlier about poogan's porch but also wanted to add- tell your friend to look on livingsocial and groupon for charleston! i keep an eye on any place i'm going to be visiting to see if they have any cool discounted deals. i'm going to charleston in may and last week i scored a groupon deal for a carriage tour! :)

  7. Reds on Shem Creek. Also, Fleet Landing down on the battery is also a great place to eat. I love the market area and you should definitely consider a historic tour on horse drawn carriage. Yeah, it's kind of touristy, but worth it to do it once. :) Also, if you're into ghost stuff, the haunted ghost walks are cool too!

  8. I'm so jealous!! I've always wanted to visit Charleston! I can't wait to see your recap! :)

  9. If your friend likes to dance, The Market Place Pavilion Rooftop is awesome. You can see a good amount of downtown Charleston from the roof. When we were there, there was a deejay playing that latest hip and hip music. We had an amazing time!

  10. Wow, talk about timing, I'm going to Charleston next week, love the suggestions from your lovely readers!

  11. I'm a Charleston native- born and raised! Meg, I thought you were joining too at first- tease! Anywho- it depends on the day, where she's staying, what she wants to do. There's shopping at Tanger or at the Market downtown. Seafood on Shem Creek or hitting Summerville for some BBQ. There is most likely some event going on as well!! My email is hit me up with more details and I'll help out how I can!!

  12. Im gonna have to spend some time reading this, because I'll be going down to Charleston in June! Can't wait :)
