Bring on the Lawn Games + Merriment!

After a long 15 months, the time has finally arrived for my dear best friend to get hitched.

Yup, Adam and I are headed out of town tonight to journey down to tiny Okeene, Oklahoma for a weekend of fun, friends, and celebration. I am excited beyond belief to see Lo and Brian tie the knot! Can you tell?

These two have worked insanely hard to build a gorgeous gazebo in her parents backyard, pave an aisle, and landscape. With that rich in spirit backyard feel, they have handcrafted lawn games for guests to play....

...including a lifesize Jenga set.
Ahhh-mazing.

Meet the soon-to-be Mr. & Mrs. Armstrong...

Aren't they such a gorgeous couple? I still can't get over these stunning photos captured by her photography cousin, Annie Nicole.

Let me just tell you, Lo is going to a stunning bride in her amazing vintage accessories and STUNNING dress. Eek! Butterflies in my tummy just thinking about the big day.

Don't you worry, I'll have lots to share {photos!} when I'm back at it next week!

:: Five Fun Facts ::

1. I'm super introverted and a bit of a dork.
2. I LOVE playing board games. My husband and I own over 60 games and have weekly game nights with friends.
3. I believe that everything happens for a reason - even the bad stuff can be used for good.
4. My husband and I, along with his brother, run a popular comedy channel on YouTube called Blimey Cow and we release new videos every Monday!
5. I love being captivated by a good story. My favorites are science fiction (the more epic and outer spacey, the better!) and historical/period pieces.

Single Digits + Guest Bloggers Needed

Happy Friday, Lovelies!
I stopped by our wedding venue with my parents over the noon hour to see how everything looks when it's snow covered, because let's face it...

When your city gets 25 inches of snow in a week, you will have snow on the ground for your big day.

Although I would've loved green leaves and warm weather, it looks like Mother Nature had other plans.
But you know what? I am totally okay with it.

So pretty, right?

At the end of the day, it doesn't matter if there is snow.
At the end of the day, it doesn't matter what my scale says.
At the end of the day, it doesn't matter if everything is perfect...

Because I get to marry my best friend.

What could possibly ruin that joy?

We're in single digits, people! Get excited, because I know I am! :)

Bridal Shower Chic + Happy Weekend!

Looks like it's time to kick this weekend off right!
I woke up in such a good mood (duh, it's Friday!), and I'm ridiculously giddy! The reason? I'm heading to Wichita for the weekend, and I have my very first bridal shower tomorrow!!

My mom's dearest friends are way too cute setting up such an extravagant shower just for me! There will be so many cute, creative touches knowing them, and I just feel blessed beyond words that they want to do all of that for me? Can't wait to see everyone!

Questions... Is it weird that I'm a little nervous?

There will be around 50 ladies at this shower and I don't really know what to expect! :)

Last night, my almost mother-in-law helped me find an outfit for the occasion. As always, I want to feel comfortable, pretty, be able to be worn for lots of things, and be flattering.

We ended up at LOFT and I found the world's best dress! It's sweatpants comfy, but looks chic and seriously SO slimming. If you don't have this dress, I recommend grabbing it ASAP. It didn't look like much on the hanger, but boy was it adorable on!

I found a cute turquoisey-blue necklace to add some color, plan to add some fun patterned tights, and pair with my favorite black suede wedges! What do you think?

So many other fun things to look forward to this weekend...

+ sissy snuggle time
+ saturday girls bestie night
+ playing dominoes with grandpa
+ sleeping in
+ coffee with the parentals
+ seeing lots of my favorite people
+ walking the pups
+ painting nails
+ just relaxing

...finally being reunited with the future hubs on Sunday after his week-long Seattle trip!!

.:::.:::.:::.:::.:::.

I absolutely PROMISE to remember to take lots of photos this weekend! Feel free to keep up with me via Twitter and Instagram for the behind-the-scenes photos, but recap will happen next week!

PS - That amazing chocolate chip cookie recipe I promised? Coming your way at lunch!!

What are you crazy kids up to this weekend?
Make it a good one!!

My Weekend Outlook

Why hello there, Friday!The week sure flew by fast... I guess that's what happens when you take Monday off to be in sunny Phoenix. :) That was mean, wasn't it? Yikes... super sorry to all of you who suffered through...

A) a Monday
B) a freezing cold Monday.

Don't worry, I'm back to chilly Kansas City and I'm slowly getting my life together. Being on vacation in Wichita and then Phoenix for the Thanksgiving holiday left piles of laundry and lots of work e-mails to catch up on.

Thank goodness for the weekend.

Can I get a "Preach it sista!"?

Pretty stinking excited about a weekend at home! Getting my other half back tonight after a week long trip to Seattle, and lots of fun things to look forward to with friends!

{ Weekend Outlook }

Friday

We're off to sweet little Jasper's first dance recital! Little Jasper Jane is the daughter of my dear friend Ashley, so "Auntie Meg" (as I like to call myself) is going to surprise JJ with some pretty flowers! She's totally going to melt my heart. I seriously can't wait.

Adam gets home from Washington, and I've missed that man! It doesn't matter if I spent a solid 4 days with him and his fam in AZ, I think I missed him the second he dropped me off at the airport. Pretty sappy and gross, huh? Love turns you into a complete lunatic, my friends. And I am one happy loon! ;)

Probably grab some dinner and a redbox and chill at Adam's casa. I hope his roomies are home - I've missed them while everyone was out of town!

Saturday

I think Saturday morning Zumba is calling my name. T-minus 3 months 'til wedded bliss, people. And I'm going to rock my sassy dress, so it's time to get serious!

My other faux niece, Princess Sophia Ann (as Auntie Meg calls her), is getting her first photo with Santa ("SANTA!!! I know him!!" - name that movie). So her mommy, my fabulous friend Karen, and I are going to make a morning of it. That calls for some holiday Starbucks drinks and seriously baby snuggle time.

I have baby fever.

And no, after we get married, we're on the 5 year plan  (if you must know)... so don't you even go there! My mom already "subtly" hints that she doesn't want to be an old lady grandma, so 5 years is too long for her (ha!) ;) So I get my fill via friends/fam!

Anyway, that should be a blast! Then future hubs and I may go browse for wedding bands for him. Just saying that makes my heart beat a little faster. Seeing a ring on that finger of his may make me melt into a puddle of mushy-ness.

Then we're going to watch K-State whoop up on Texas! ;)

Sunday

Some of my favorite girlfriends are coming over for a crafty afternoon. I can't wait to catch up, enjoy some healthy snacks, and just hang in yoga pants... mmmm.

Sunday evening we're off to church with our little Heartland family, which is always a time I look forward to every week. Getting re-centered. Having my heart softened. Worshipping hand-in-hand with Adam. So thankful.

.:::.:::.:::.:::.:::.

Welp, there you have it! A very relaxing weekend planned with lots of wonderful company!

What are you up to this weekend, friends?

Celebration Time + Weekend Wishes

Raise your hand if you're overly ready and excited for the weekend...
Yay! Me too. Like big time...
Fridays always make me super happy, but especially today. Birthday weekend has arrived and I'm ready to have a reason to just celebrate with friends and family! We've got quite the celebration agenda.

Friday

Tonight, we are rounding up the gang to hit the town for a swanky dinner, and then we're heading back to Adam's house for yummy German chocolate cake and drinks! I wouldn't be shocked if we rocked out to Spice Girls Pandora station and broke out beer/wine pong for a fun evening with tons of my favorite people! If catch phrase was included I wouldn't hate it... just saying.

Saturday

Tomorrow morning, I am heading out to breakfast with the world's greatest group of small group girls. They crack me up, so a little brunch (while clad in yoga pants and a messy pony) will be such a fun way to start the morning!

Saturday night, we're headed back over to Adam's house with our crazy k-state friends to watch the big game. I'm planning to be overly ambitious and make tasty Wildcat themed purple sugar cookies. I know... I'm just out of control.

I'm super pumped about Sunday! Bud (Adam's "pet" name) and I are headed to lovely Crate & Barrel to begin our wedding registry. Shockingly, we're both way too excited - we love C&B!

Sunday

Sunday evening is church with our little church family, and then enjoy a relax night... and probably some Christmas decorating! Ahh!

Monday - Birthday Time!
I took Monday off (which is my actual birthday)and the entire week of Thanksgiving. So I am planning to sleep in, get in a nice workout to start year 26 off right, and then my little sis is coming into town for a Breaking Dawn - Part 2 date with me! So excited!

That evening, Adam is taking me out on a birthday dinner date, and then I will probably request to watch a Christmas movie. Yes, I know Thanksgiving hasn't hit yet. And yes, I listen to Christmas music all year round, so Christmas is always acceptable in my book! ;)

Thanksgiving Week

Heading home with sissy on Tuesday after she gets out of class. I'll be in Wichita celebrating Thanksgiving with family until after Black Friday shopping! Then I'm driving back to KC to catch a flight out to Phoenix for several days with Adam and his fam. Meredith, my almost sister-in-law's 2nd wedding reception is that Saturday!

.:::.:::.:::.:::.:::.

So anyway, I'll be around next weekend!! Be prepared to join me on my birthday for some Mingle Monday time! I have lots of great posts lined up!

I will also be having a Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale over at my Cozy Couture - Custom Crochet Headwraps Etsy shop!

What are you crazy kids up to this weekend?! :)

Family Wedding Weekend + Photos

Many of you who follow me around on Twitter know last week was crazy for me, but so fun! My amazing, (soon to be) sister-in-law, Meredith, got married to the love of her life and had the most beautiful wedding!

I was thrilled beyond belief to celebrate with her all week, and I am so thankful I got time off work to be a helpful bridesmaid! I tried my very best to behave myself.... ;)

I have to say, the majority of people at her wedding are obviously coming to ours in March, and I got really excited. Hands down, I am marrying into such an amazing family and love my in-laws to death. I feel very, very blessed to able to say that.

They were gracious enough to extend the invite to my family, and I love that everyone gets along well and we all enjoy each other so much. Is this real life?

Here are a few shots from an amazing, unforgettable weekend...

 Future hubs is way too handsome, not even going to lie about it...

 Some of my absolute favorite boys.

My future mother-in-law and father-in-law - I sure love them!

 The beautiful bride (isn't her rehearsal dress stunning?) and her groom with his parents.

Some of the wedding party at the lovely rehearsal dinner. Coolest wine cellar ever!

Little bride after receiving her wedding gift from her hubby.

A few cell phone shots that I stole from my FB friends! :) Isn't Meredith beautiful?

The perfect fall wedding - can't wait to share the professional photos when they come out!

{sorry about the narrow blog margins! They're making the photos a little loopy looking... }

.:::.:::.:::.:::.:::.

Dear "Little Bride" (Meredith),

I couldn't possibly ask for a more loving, fun sister-in-law. Not only am I thrilled to call you my official sister in a few months, but I'm thankful you also are a wonderful best friend. I love that we have SO much in common, and that you inspire me to be a better person each and everyday.
What a joy it is to have you and Kyle in my life, and I can't wait to see what our adventures hold! We're sure looking forward to the day where you guys can be our bee keeper neighbors, and our little redheaded babies can all play together. Wishing you the most beautiful Belize honeymoon, and a lifetime of inspiring adventures together.

Love you very much!

.:::.:::.:::.:::.:::.

Yup, I am blessed beyond measure. I wish I could've snapped a few photos with my family at the reception, but we were all too busy breakin' it down Porter style!

I've got to admit that seeing such an amazing big day gave me butterflies for the first time in a while. 4 months to go, and it's going by so fast! :)
