Gratitude Lately

Lately I'm thankful for playing in the dirt and the sweetness of summer.

For parental units that make doing life so fun.

For small things like sprinkles and how they remind us it's okay to be a kid at heart.

For summer brews and great conversations.

For this city that I love to explore and the people that make adventuring twice as fun.

For fresh blooms in thrifted mason jars.

For date nights driving with the windows down and spontaneous ice cream stops.

For snuggly Beasts and the unconditional love they provide.

For time at the family cabin that reminds me to breathe and renews my tired spirit.

.:::.:::.:::.:::.:::.

And today I am thankful for YOU, who keep showing up even when I have been distracted and uninspired. I am starting to feel like myself again as my work life has calmed, and I spent time away to restore what I was missing. Cheers to new beginnings...

Here's to gratitude and how it makes life fuller, and the smallest things more than enough. As always, thanks for the inspiration, Today's Letters!

Gratitude Lately

Lately I'm thankful for pretty latte art and good conversations on a rainy day.

For fancy Houston country club weddings with this piece of eye candy (and free champagne!).

For rustic tables and swirly coffee breaks (and non-judgment for my coffee obsession + additional coffee photo).

For cozy nights in jammers getting my tushy schooled at backgammon.
(he cheats.)

For surprise bottles of wine that appear on the kitchen counter and for our little birdy wedding cake toppers that remind us of our favorite day.

For superhero spousal patience while I pop in to my favorite sweet shop to indulge in the pretty {overly girly!} window display.

For the fun experience of my first blowout, complete with pink champagne, my favorite gals, and big Texas hair. And I'm talking big...

For my incredible friends that I am so lucky to have met through a local blogging group, and how they inspire me daily.

For this little sock-stealing snuggle monster.

Here's to gratitude and how it makes life fuller, and the smallest things more than enough. As always, thanks for the inspiration, Today's Letters!

Today's Letters

I've been blissfully caught up in fall shenanigans while on vacation with the fam this weekend.
We slept in way too late, didn't wear a drop of make-up, ate pumpkin pancakes (should've worn stretchier pants!), and had the best getaway ever.

Life is good, and I am basking in the glow today, so I figured a few little love notes were in order...

Dear Hubster //
After a year and a half of marriage, you are always finding new ways to speak my love language. Today that came in the form of helping me get the Royals game to [illegally] stream live on my work lappy. What will you amaze me with next?

Dear Ozarks //
Your version of Fall knocked the wind out of me. Just driving through windy back roads, I loved every last crimson and gold leaf on your ever-so-bushy trees.

Dear Beast //
The way you gallop toward us at top speeds after we haven't seen you all weekend makes me feel like a little kid on Christmas morning.

Dear City of Kansas City //
I love the way we have come alive in the last few weeks. Blue flags hanging from every business. High fiving complete strangers. Lighting up the entire downtown cityscape blue. It's been 29 years since the Royals have made the World Series, and deep down in my bones I think today's the day! #takethecrown

Dear Tennies //
I hope you're ready for a heavy workout, because I am pretty sure I ate a pound of Sara's famous puppy chow this weekend. Today I am worried that my jeans' button might ricochet and take out my old lady co-worker with the vigor of a champagne cork, so it's time...

Dear Adam (who always deserves two letters) //
I am surprised that you are still willing to bless me with goodbye forehead kisses every morning. Despite that I am able to sleep in longer than you, steal the covers by wrapping up like a quilt burrito, and mumble things about a 10 page paper being due (what?), you teach me that love is unconditional and yours is always readily given.

//  Life is all about the little things, my friends. //
What's one thing you're thankful for today?

Today's Letters

I've been blissfully caught up in fall shenanigans this weekend.

Life is good, and I am basking in the glow of my blessings, so I have a few love notes to write...

Dear Autumn //
Why are you so much fun? If only there were 100 hours a day to do all my favorite fall things, like test every pumpkin bread recipe in the world. Good thing I have the world's BEST recipe to share tomorrow.

Dear Beastie Baby //
I love that you are wild and free, and love bows like your mama. I only wish they would stay on past the 21 minutes you've been home after the groomer, you little diva you.

Dear Work //
Thanks for providing me with the world's best co-worker friends. Breast cancer awareness month is always a busy one for us, but I'm so glad we're so much closer to finding cures and saving lives.

Dear Juju (aka: Mom) //
You are one crazy cotton candy making tornado-of-a-lady, and I love you. Thanks for being so selfless and giving up your Saturday to make cancer patients (and me) smile.

Dear Sibs //
Wouldn't trade you for the world. Our uncanny ability to all show up in plaid unplanned is totally due to our weird sib telepathy. Rock on, you crazy kids.

Dear Grandpa //
You are officially the world's sassiest, most lovable old man. I had a wonderful time celebrating your 88th birthday this weekend and wish I could throw my arms around you every day. Cheers to memories, and wrinkles, and smiles.

Dear Hubster //
You, sir, make life fun. Thanks for spontaneously driving us the long way home from Lawrence just so we could soak in the sunset and the Kansas scenery. I'm glad you love ordering a pizza at 8pm and watching Breaking Bad in our new big kid bed. Love your whiskery face.

Humbly thankful.
Ridiculously blessed.

Linking up with Miss Sami today - thanks girl!

Today's Letters

I have to say that with all the job transition and hectic evenings, I have been a bad blogger. I never feel like a blogger should apologize for being uninspired, being busy, or just plain needing a break, because you blog for you. But I am disappointed at my lack of time/focus lately to something I love and enjoy.

So that being said, I'm back on track and beyond excited to jump back into full force. I've missed you guys and my itty bitty corner of blog world.

I have lots of random thoughts up in my noggin', so I thought I would write life a few little letters...

{Dear New Job}
I completely and totally love you. Although I have so much to learn, you have so much potential. It's fantastic feeling less stressed out, in the perfect spot for my passion, and in a new setting.

{Dear Pool}
I am coming for you! My weekends have been slammed lately, but you're at the top of my priority list. My beach read and sunscreen are already packed... and my girlfriends and I are ready for tan lines and vitamin D! Holla.

{Dear Fruity Alcoholic Drink}
Why must you tempt me with your refreshing splash of lemonade, berries and booze, you sneeky calorie hoarder, you.

{Dear Humidity)
Unfortunately, I just don't think it's going to work out for you and me. You leave me and my hair feeling frustrated, disappointed, and totally frizzed out. You may have to go ASAP... sorryboutcha.

{Dear Vacation}
The countdown until Friday morning is on! Hubs and I are more than pumped to get the heck out of here and go exploring. There won't be one city block of Omaha that will be left un-adventured. Sleeping in. Foodie heaven. Zoo-going. Ice cream eating. Roadtrip shenanigans. Bring it on!

{Dear Scale}
Thanks for finally moving in the right direction. Between the Zumba-ing and the celery sticks, I was about to toss you out our two-story window if there was another week of non-budging. It's nice to see hard work paying off. Oh, and I feel a little bad for threatening you... please be nice again next week.

{Dear Adam Trembley}
I'm not quite sure how it happens, but somehow every single morning I end up wrapped in our entire queen fitted sheet. Every. Morning. All the while, you are freezing trying to hang on to the tinniest corner of our comforter. Apparently I am a full-on natural disaster in the middle of the night and should sleep in a straight jacket.

Side note... I do however think your scruffy face is pretty handsome. Oh, and thanks for courtesy laughing at my cheesy laughy taffy jokes... you're a keeper!
