My Most Favorite Day

// Photo by Sharaya Mauck Photography //

Today over my lunch break I made a trip out to Parkville, Missouri (a quaint suburb of Kansas City where we got married) to run a few errands. While driving around the charming little town with my windows rolled down and an iced coffee in my hand, I was flooded with memories of my most favorite day.

The more I let the memories roll in, goosebumps just washed over my arms and I couldn't stop smiling. I couldn't help but feel overcome with so much joy and gratitude... I married the man of my dreams.

I still remember...

+ waking up next to my sissy with a stomach full of happy butterflies
+ lounging around and giggling all day while my best friends and I all got ready
+ the way Adam's face lit up when he saw me for the first time in my dress
+ feeling giddy (read: trying not to erupt in tears) as my dad walked me down the aisle
+ my mom's insanely sweet dance moves - stanky leg, y'all - and yes there is photo proof
+ having the time of my life on the dance floor
+ how much I wanted to eat our entire delicious coconut milk wedding cake
+ the feeling of being guided to our limo with my hand in Adam's ready to start our new life together
+ and how overwhelmed with love and gratitude we both felt to have our most favorite people with us

Today I'm grateful for...

+ drives that take me off the beaten path
+ memories that make it all seem like yesterday
+ how incredible my husband is and how much of a blessing marriage is in all seasons
+ and for the awesomely creative ways God shows me how much I am known, loved, and remembered, and the gratitude that freely brings

What are you thankful for today, sweet friends?

Our Wedding Featured on Brides.com

Today is a very special day.
Our wedding is the feature story on Brides magazine online today!

You can only imagine my excitement when I found out our wedding was officially published and online for the world to see.

The amazing people at Brides reached out to me last fall asking to do a feature piece on our wedding, photographed by our dear friend, the lovely Sharaya Mauck. I had so much fun working with them to help capture the special details of our big day, and to relive it all over again is so much fun!

For more details on our wedding and to catch the whole feature, go visit Brides.com for the full scoop!

I just wanted to thank the great staff at Brides and Sharaya for making this come to life. Thanks so much for reliving our joy with us.

If you are in the KC area and are looking for a photographer, Sharaya Mauck Photography is by far the best in the biz... go visit her site for more gorgeous photos!

Eeek... is this real?

Save the Date: Wedding Venue Sneak Peek

Alrighty... it's official!
As of yesterday, we secured our wedding date and our beautiful first choice venue!! Both Adam and I couldn't be more relieved or excited to have that much done so quickly!!

So, I will officially be a married lady on March 9th, 2013! Ahhh!

Because I'm so excited, I figured I could give you all a sneak peek of our venue. The Hawthorne House reminds me of a beautiful southern estate with a white picket fence all the way around several acres lush acres. No matter what time of year it is, all the photos are stunning!

We will be getting married at the adorable picturesque chapel on the estate, and then hop over the adorable bridge to our plantation style house reception.

I am in love with the white wrap around porch, hanging plants, the light and airy Emerson Room (where the reception will be held), and the cute little gazebo in the front of the big lawn!

Take a look at a few weddings that have been done there...

So I have a few questions for all your engaged or married ladies out there. After we have found our venue, these questions still remain...

+ how did you choose a quality photographer/florist/DJ/cake?
+ did you meet/interview a bunch of them?
+ what about wedding make-up and hairstylist?

Any help or advice would greatly be appreciated! I love having such great blog friends who constantly offer encouragement and sound tips, so thank you in advance!!
