Mingle Monday Weekly Blog Hop!

H eeeellllllooooooo Monday morning lovers!!!
Haha, jk. Who on earth actually loves Mondays? I'd like to meet such a person, because apparently I have a lot to learn from them! ;)

So tell me about your weekend - how was it? Did anyone get to celebrate with or honor their dads? I had a blast with my Mom and Dad in Kansas City this weekend!

Yesterday, I made Dad this spectacular Blackened Chicken w/ Cilantro Lime Quinoa recipe (which they RAVED about - try it ASAP!), as well as this Rustic Peach Pie (uh-mazing!) topped with vanilla bean ice cream.

I'm a little cooking machine, and subsequently my Dad's favorite child (eh, Linds and Kelly?!).

Anywho, if you are new to my humble little blog, I want to warmly welcome you from the bottom of my heart. Every single comment you leave me truly warms my heart! I hope you enjoy the week-long Mingle Monday blog hop and will be back again soon!

Please introduce yourself - I'd love to personally say hello! :)

  1. I wish I could give you some recommendations - I need some good books to read. Last summer I read the Hunger Games and then Twilight the summer before that. Clearly I need another middle school series. : )

  3. Hello Meg! Thanks for another edition of Mingle Monday.

Today I am early so I will come back to visit some more blogs.

But if you are looking for an amazing, "can't put down", summer-romance read; "On the Island" would be my choice.

You can find it in paperback or kindle edition (which is what I read), it's on amazon here:

    http://www.amazon.com/On-Island-Tracey-Garvis-Graves/dp/014219672X/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1340030935&sr=1-1&keywords=on+the+island

    Have a great week!

  4. I seriously need to meet a person who loves Monday's as well. I am dragging here at work. Boo! :(

I am just finishing the Fifty Shades triology, but I also recommend John Green! His books are fabulous.

    Love your blog :)

  5. Happy Monday Meg! I don't have any reading recommendations. I'm in desperate need of some myself!

  6. I'm reading the Bridal Quartet series now by Nora Roberts. It's pretty easy reading and so far pretty good! Also, the Stephanie Plum series are great reads if you're looking for something easy.

  7. Happy Monday! There are so many good books out there, where to begin!? Right now, I'm reading through Philippa Gregory's The Cousins' War series. I hadn't read her stuff before, and kind of thought it was trashy chick-lit, but it's actually really interesting historical fiction.

I went and visited everyone who had linked up before me. I'm always interested in meeting new blog friends! :-)

  8. Right now I'm reading Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks & it is FANTASTIC! They are making it into a movie soon with Josh Duhamel & Julianne Hough playing the two main characters. It's a quick read too because it's so good.

  9. Hi! I'm strangely not too big on reading this summer...which is weird because a couple summers ago I read over 80 books during the three month break. Right now I'm just re-reading the Series of Unfortunate Events books since I found them cheap in a thrift store!

  10. I would recommend The Alchemist, To the Waters and the Wild by Gerritt van Gelderen, The TIme Travellers Wife.

I have reviews of them on my blog :)

  11. I'm in the middle of Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter and it's really good, especially if you like history. While it's fictionalized, the author really matched up the timeline of Abe's life well. Oh, and anything by Sophie Kinsella!

  12. Mmmhm peach pie sounds DELICIOUS!!

For reading..anything by Nora Roberts or James Patterson...love!

  13. Peach pie? I'm sold -- so glad I found your blog! xoxo

  14. Just started reading Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn and it is so good that I'm already almost done with all 432 pages of it! You should look into it! :)

  15. I need new books too!

  16. Summer reading recommendation: The Brain that Changes Itself by Norman Doidge. Pop neuroscience about neuroplasticity, but easily readible to any scientific background level. Plus nonfiction is where it's at!

  17. Finishing up Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter (great if you love history, or vampires!) and then moving onto Let's Pretend this Never Happened by the bloggess. Can't wait to get into that one!

  18. I wish I had some reccommendations for you, but I don't find much time to read in the summer. I'm still trying to finish The Hunger Games. Thanks for hosting!

  19. Thanks for the party Meg! New follower. I couldn't make your button work for some reason, but I added you to my places I party list! :)

ohhh... I'm sure you've gotten this, but I finished The Shades of Gray trilogy and loved it. Easy summer reading. :)

  20. Hi Meg. Stopping in for Mingle Monday. I'm not a serious reader but The Hunger Games were an easy read. In contrast, I'll probably check out the 50 Shades of Gray books next.

  21. I love anything jodi picoult!

  22. Hey Meg! I just did a blog post on Mingle Monday and your Blog Gift Swap.

    myobviousobsession.blogspot.com/2012/06/mingle-monday.html

Anyways, summer reading - I'm actually looking myself for something good to read, but I did just finish Glamours Thirty Things Every Woman Should Have and Should Know by the Time She's 30. Seriously long title, but very inspirational.

I'm not ready to jump on the 50 Shades bandwagon yet, so I'm looking for something else.

  23. So happy to join this! Happy Monday everyone! I think I could use a second weekend, how about you?

I'm so excited to meet a few new people!

My summer reading recommendation would be Divergent by Veronica Roth (if you liked the Hunger Games you will love this book!) There's also a sequel called Insurgent that is just as good! So you should for sure get on that!

Thanks for hosting all of us!

  24. Summer reading... let's see... Well, I'm a huge Sarah Dessen fan, so any of hers are always great. Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? by Mindy Kaling was awesome. Another great one I recently read was Divergent by Veronica Roth. Good luck! :)

  25. Im in love with the Stephanie Plum series!

  26. I'm so sorry I linked twice...for some reason it wasn't posting then I got button happy like I always do and now it's linked twice. I'm sorry :(

Love your blog, I love finding new blogs to read. As far as books, I actually I haven't read anything since the Hunger Game series, so I am in need of a good book. I am going to have take some of these book suggestions and purchase some books :)

    Thanks for hosting this!

  27. I love coming to your blog-- always such a positive and happy read :) Love the blog hop, too of course! Happy Monday!

  28. Hi Meg- I'm currently reading the Phantom Tollbooth. I think it's meant for a fifth grad level, but it's very thoughtful, like The Giver.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Loving the hopping as always :)

I don't have a recommendation for summer reading, I am reading these suggestions eagerly. Although, I still have the DaVinci Code on my bookshelf to read, I am that behind with reading...

  30. Thanks for extending the Monday Mingle. I wasn't able to do it yesterday, so I was relieved to see it still open! Amy @ http://livinnfastforward.blogspot.com

I'm currently reading 50 Shades of Grey...actually 50 Shades of Darker. It is a good series. It's pretty suspenseful. Yes there are x-rated parts, but it isn't as bad in the 2nd book and has turned into a bit of a mystery. Hunger Games Trilogy is good as well. Happy Reading!

  31. I recommend the 50 Shades Trilogy. I couldn't put it down!
