It really doesn't matter if he comes over to my place, we make dinner together and watch a movie, or if we go out on the town. I live for Thursdays.
Ladies, my boyfriend is a total stud. He always has the best ideas and I have to actually fight him to ever get the slight chance on me paying for something we do. He's too good to me.
All of this being said, BF got back from a long work trip last night, and I was just a little overwhelmed by how much I missed him while he was gone. I couldn't get enough hugs throughout the evening with our friends, and my heart leaped everytime he said "I missed you." Now with Thursday approaching I want to do something special and plan a fun date.
This is where you come in.
Unlike my creative other half, I lack the think fast know-how skills. It's really easy to fall into the same routine and plans (...don't get me wrong, I absolutely love movie night/sweat pants/snuggling like the best of them), but he deserves something low-key and special... help!
I wanted to surprise him with an evening visit to the Louisburg Cider Mill, but unfortunately the darn place closes at 6 p.m. I love making him dinner, not doing anything too fussy, but fun! We're a very simple/easy-to-please couple.

If both of you like wine, something my husband and I have been wanting to do was get some moderately priced wine (for us, under $20 lol), some nice bread (challah or the like), some cheese and meat, and just go to town. Maybe you can make that into a nice picnic meal, indoors or out. If he has a favorite candy bar/dessert, maybe you can bring that to surprise him. Just a few ideas :)
ReplyDeleteI grew up in Louisburg. :-) If you do go to the Cider Mill some time, check out the Sommerset winery too - just a couple miles down the road. And visit the Cedar Cove cat sanctuary in L-burg if you've never been there! Have you checked to see if the Red Barn Farm in Weston is open later? I haven't been...but I've heard it's similar to the Cider Mill.

We have the most random dates. :) We do lots of living room dates, we frequent playgrounds, and I have a date night planned for us to go to a place where you jump on trampolines and jump into foam puts for an hour. Haha! Whatever you do will be fun!

ReplyDeleteWe had a living room picnic once when I was sick on our anniversary. He got takeout from a restaurant and we ate on a blanket on the living room floor and watched a movie. It was very sweet and lowkey :)
ReplyDeleteAlso maybe a theme night? It could be as simple or elaborate as you wanted to make it. Like make an Italian dinner/go out to an Italian restaurant and watch a movie set in Italy. Something like that maybe?
I'm also the worst at planning creative dates, both my husband and I are...so usually our dates are really boring! :)
Planning dates can be so tough sometimes. I usually search the internet for fun and different things going on in our city on the night of our date night. Museum opening, art shows, street fairs, dance performances, wine tasting. Something that's out of the ordinary and usually they are low priced too!

Number 1: slow-cooked meals are perfect for this, because you do all the prep before the date and it's ready to go for the date. Best cookbook ever is Essentials in Slowcooking from William Sonoma; I use it all the time. Figure out your meal tonight so you can whip it up tomorrow in the morning or at lunch.
ReplyDeleteNumber 2: (I've always wanted to do this, but I don't know how realistic it is either) Find a big wall to project a favorite movie onto a wall with a bunch of pillows, blankets, and candles. It's cozy, laid back, and romantic. Don't forget the wine!

ReplyDeleteI know this is a little late, but I think it depends on how romantic you want the date to be. My boyfriend and I are more friendly with each other than anything. I know he likes to have a good time with me every once in a while without all the candles and mushy stuff. So I saw Game Wheels online and purchased one. I got a bunch of little questions I thought we'd both like to know about each other and little prizes to go along with them. It was totally cute and he really liked it, he still talks about it to this day.
