Mood Board: Master Bedroom Revamp

As many of you saw via Instagram, I have been working on a few home projects as of late.
Before I moved in to what is now our house, we did a lot of work on the common spaces on the main level (painting wood paneling is a pain in the tushy!), and renovated our entire kitchen last summer.

After thinking about it for a while, I wanted to finally make cosmetic changes to the spaces we use everyday - our mast bathroom and bedroom. I knocked out the mast bathroom project in one night, and finished painting our bedroom this week, and it's amazing what paint can do!

Now, I am dreaming of furnishings and how to finish the space off to deliver a serene spa like feel.
Of course I turned to Polyvore to tinker around a bit and this is what I came up with...

I chose a soothing coastal blue to soften the space, and would love some airy sheer panels, rustic finishes, and just the right touch of sparkle to jazz things up. What do you think? Here were a few of my inspirations on my bedroom revamp Pinterest board...

Our Kitchen Renovation: Before + After

I've been dying to show you guys the dramatic difference from frumpy 1970's kitchen, to a chic and welcoming space. It's by far my favorite room in the house since I enjoy cooking and baking frequently, and I am loving how it turned out.

Our kitchen inspiration was a light and fresh space full of colorful pops of green, yellow and turquoise. We chose to conserve our tight budget by painting our current cabinets and switching out the hardware, which added the extra light and modern feel we were going for. We painted the walls a nice neutral gray to provide a clean contrast to our fresh white cabinets. It also set the perfect canvas to play with colorful accessories!

Due to the limited space, we chose to maximize what area we had in clever ways. I can't tell you how good it felt to knock out a few unused cabinet nook and crannies.

AKA... goodbye outdated bread box and hello fabulous counter space!!

Need a good tip? I simply tried to explain to Adam that the more counter space we have means the more baked goods I'm able to whip up with the extra room. ;) Instant win.

And to wow you even more... here is a photo that was taken before Adam purchased the house almost 4 years ago. We've come a LONG way! 

We changed the little corner of dead space into a cute little coffee bar area and we love how it all came together! We took our sweet love print from our wedding to add some art deco and personalization.

I am typically not great at visualizing spaces or decorating, but I am pretty proud with the accessories that we chose. i love how the space reflects our personalities and contemporary style.

And of course, a HUGE thank you to my sweet daddy who dedicated hours and hours to re-wiring our electrical, installing our range hood, and dealing with our home's 1970's eccentricities! It was a wild ride.

Oh yeah, and his studly assistant was a pretty big help too!! Love you both!

Mood Board: Kitchen Renovation

Every single day after work, I am thrilled to get home and see what's been done that day. That's right, this week is the final phase in our kitchen remodel, and I am absolutely loving how it's coming together.

If you can't tell by my beautiful blog design (via Something Charming - LOVE Joelle!), I am in love with yellow.

It's sunny.
It's fresh.
It's cheerful.

So naturally I wanted to find a way to incorporate yellow into our new kitchen without taking away from the gorgeous neutral wall color. We also agreed on adding in tuquoise and green accents for extra dimension.

I want our kitchen, the place where I love spending my time, to feel clean, relaxing, and just plain fun.

Antsy for Order

So, life lately has just been slightly chaotic.

We've been going, going, going every weekend this past month, and almost every night this week. Work for me has been super stinking busy (and stressful at times), and by the time we get home each night we're too exhausted to do much besides eat and sleep, let alone clean/organize our house.

It's to the point where tolerating it isn't cutting it anymore. You know, when the normal out of place items start to be a HUGE deal. Where you about lose it every time you open the hall closet (avalanche!).

So this weekend, I am about to go nutzo on The Evans estate.

Well, I am majorly looking forward to getting our house (and life?) in order this weekend. And for the first time in a LONG time, I'm motivated and just ready.

Plus, I think it's about time to unpack my boxes of things that are collecting dust in our basement storage since I moved in after our wedding... 6 weeks ago. Ya think?

Future Home Sweet Home

With the wedding looming in the not so distant future (almost a month and a half out, people!), we are slowly getting ready to turn Adam's house into our home.

He has had some amazing roommates/friends over the last few years, and as they move out of Adam's house in the next few weeks, we're excited for their new adventures and ours!

I can't believe that his home will be "our home", and it's just now beginning to sink in.

While I live with my parents before the wedding, we're beginning to transform the house into a contemporary, personal, and cozy oasis. To have many of our projects done by the wedding, it will be a nice retreat after we return from our honeymoon trip and adjust to living with each other.

So weird.

So thankful for such a hard working man who has provided SO much for us. He even told me that he had waited to paint a long time ago when he bought the house, because he knew one day we'd be making this our home together.

Love that man!

Our home (which is so bizarre to say) was built in the 1970's, has 4 bedrooms, a wonderful living room area to entertain, and a nice big kitchen. Although the space is incredible, there are some features that aren't so lovely.

i.e. a wood paneled living room!

Yup, painting the paneling, lightening up the room, and adding out own style is project #1. Even painting sample colors over the wood gave the room a whole new look. I'm so excited!

Also, I am thrilled to update the kitchen, especially since I love cooking. Adam has done extensive work gutting the bathrooms and kitchen, and it's just ready for a fresh coat of paint and modern twists.

We're planning to remove the 1970's architectural detailing, paint the cabinets white, the walls a deep shade of rich gray, and swap out the cabinet hardware. The result? A fresh and inviting space that relaxes and inspires creativity.

One of my favorite parts of the kitchen is the bay window that lets in tons of light. I can't wait to see the final look. We love these spaces...

We're excited to also paint the master bedroom so that it feel relaxing and calm. A soothing sage green with our brown Crate and Barrel bedding would be great! Can't get enough of these rooms...
