Chicago: Any Advice?!

Well hey there, friends!
I sure hope all of you are off to a happy morning... I know mine is on the up and up! So, in 4 weeks, BF and I are taking a train trip up to Chicago to spend time with his sister and her fiance for a long weekend!

As per the usual, I am totally jazzed about finally taking my dream train trip, spend time with BF {our 2 year anniversary is a few days before}, and see the city with Meredith and Kyle! It will be such a great weekend for the 4 of us to spend together!

{ Looks gorgeous! }

This is where I need your expert advice! I know a bunch of you have probably been there to visit - or heck! - you may even live there! So I need your help on finding the best of chicago! I mean come on... the only thing on my list right now is visiting THE Sprinkles Cupcakes - haha! :)

Restaurants? Shopping? Sights?
You name it - We want to see it all!

We get into Chicago a little earlier than Mer/Kyle, so we would love to find a great restaurant for our anniversary dinner that night. Not anything too expensive or fancy - our style would be somewhere quaint, with a romantic/sweet atmosphere, and great food. I'd love to hear your recommendations!

{ Thanks in advance for any advice! }

Crazy blessed to have such wonderful blog friends!

  2. One of my favorite places to eat in Chicago is Butterfly Sushi - like most places, it is BYO and delicious! I also have a good friend who loves Cafe Ba Ba Reeba which serves tapas. I hope you enjoy your trip. I love Chicago and now is the perfect time of year to go :-)

  3. I follow another blogger who also went to Chicago recently and asked for advice. Maybe you can get some ideas from her blog posts.

    Before she went (lots of comments): http://ashleyannphotography.com/blog/2011/08/31/so-i-have-a-few-questions-for-you/

  7. GENE AND JUDES. The best hot dogs you will EVER HAVE IN YOUR LIFE. No ketchup allowed. It's glorious. Navy Pier is a must - and just wander around the city. You'll be surprised what things you run into! I grew up there and just... sigh. I miss it! I love my city! OH! And be sure you go to Giordanos and get a deep dish Chicago style pizza. AMAZING!

  8. Make sure you stop at Shedd Aquarium. You will not regret it! (Unless you hate fish I guess) :)

  9. Sprinkles is truly the most amazing dessert ever. You can't not try (just about any) Chicago deep-dish pizza. Also, if you like popcorn, go to Garrett's downtown and get the Chicago mix. It's cheese and caramel popcorn mixed together. The line is always out the door for good reason! It's AMAZING!

    If you aren't afraid of heights, the Navy Pier ferris wheel is worth the money. The view is unbeatable and there is an audio track that gives you a little history of the city.

    Have fun! Chicago is one of my very favorite cities!

  10. CHICAGO! I live just outside of the city, as of 4 weeks ago!

    One of my favorite places (and best views of the city) is to skip the Sears Tower all together and head up to the Lounge in the John Hancock building. It is especially breathtaking at night, and the best view is from the Woman's bathroom.

    Navy Pier is great, especially if it's a nice day outside, to be able to sit on the pier and watch all the boats/ships.

    Millennium Park is of course a must see. Go to the bean and take as many touristy/artsy pictures as you can. And don't forget to people watch there, you can encounter some pretty interesting characters!

    If you like theaters, check out the tours of the Chicago theater. They are inexpensive, if I remember correctly $5, and it is amazing to walk through the whole theater and hear the history.

    Also, here is a link for museum free days in Chicago!

    Finally, foodwise, I suggest checking out Wow Bao, at least for a snack. It sounds strange, but the baos are absolutely incredible!

    Enjoy!
