DIY Royal Wedding Party

Grab your tiaras, ladies!
That's right, the big day is tomorrow morning and I'm getting excited to celebrate with some fabulous parties!!

I think my Royal Wedding obsession may be getting to the point where it's borderline out of control...

Confession: FB photo = Will+Kat

...Anyways, I am planning to attend the most amazing city-wide watch party at the break of dawn. The Kansas City Union Station is currently hosting the world-reknown Princess Diana exhibit, so they are hosting a massive celebration!

I can't wait to see Diana's wedding dress (which Oprah tried to steal from us for tomorrow... sorryboutcha, Oprah - it's ours!).

After many post-work naps, i am also hosting a Royal Wedding party at my cute little casa! I plan on having many fun decorations, food, and fun surprises for my little shin-dig.

In case you need some last minute ideas for your own party, I thought I'd provide a helpful DIY party guide to make your princess party even more fabulous!!

PS - Royal Wedding TV Guide HERE!

Royal Wedding: TV Survival Guide

Cheerio lassies!
Who's ready to witness a real life fairytale? I know I sure am! As I said last week, I plan to wake-up at 1:30 a.m. in order to get downtown and in line for the huge KC royal wedding watch party celebration by 2 a.m.

Naturally, we have to go early, because the first 100 people get princess tiaras and British flags - fun!

But naturally, I have to soak in as much Royal Wedding TV coverage as possible... thank you DVR! I plan to play the wedding and specials on my TV during my Royal Wedding Party that I am hosting for a few girlfriends tomorrow evening (more to come on that later!)

I spent a good chunk of last night deleting old episodes of "Say Yes to the Dress" episodes in order to overload my DVR with everything Royal. There were so many scheduled "behind the scenes at the Royal Wedding" type specials, as well as a few highlighting all their wedding planning, receptions, food, and guests.

I figured I would provide a handy little Royal Wedding Survival Guide in order to help you get your TV ready for live wedding cpverage bliss!

I Need A Staycay...

Will someone pass me some toothpicks?
I can barely keep my eyes open today! I feel all sorts of crazy and am in desperate need of either more coffee, a long nap, a massage, an all expenses paid vacation, or perhaps an evening "staycation"?

I think the combo of 5 a.m. mornings and late evenings have finally caught up with little old me. I'm losing it.

I poured coffee in my my water glass this morning, left my keys in my office door, and have caught myself staring blankly out my dormer window on several occasions... and it's noon!

{ I. am. exhasuted. }

Despite my younger years, I can no longer function off of less than 7.5 hours of sleep. Now if I am running on fumes, my body starts to completely rebel until I am ridiculously sick and forced to rest.

So, that being said, I have cancelled my weekly Wednesday plans so that I can just rest/relax. I see wonderful, cozy, lazy low-maintenance things in my near future...

early evening nap + cereal for dinner + snuggling with puppy
catching up on the DVR + bubble bath + candles
chic lit reading + early bed time

Tonight = Heaven

...take that stupid rebellious body!

.:::.:::.:::.:::.:::.

Plus, I have to get my rest in before my amazing Royal Wedding watch party plans... Friday @ 3 a.m.!

Anyone else completely exhausted out there?

Royal Wedding: The Obsession

It's safe to say I'm officially obsessed.
The countdown 'til this amazing Royal Wedding is drawing to a close and I get more and more excited every day!

I think my obsession culminated yesterday afternoon after seeing the awesome Royal Wedding memorabilia on Poodleism - one of my faves!

When I thought things couldn't get any better, my cousins called about amazing Royal Wedding watch party plans for next Friday!

So apparently, Union Station Kansas City is having a huge watch party with festivities beginning at 3 a.m. until the royal wedding is broadcast on a jumbo screen in the middle of Union Station at 6 a.m.

{ Isn't Union Station gorgeous? }

The watch party is free admission and includes a yummy breakfast. There will be several awesome giveaways going on that morning too!

While we wait for Kate and Wills, we can view the new Princess Diana exhibit (including her wedding dress and her diamond tiaras!), exclusive to KC. Ever since the exhibit opened in March it has attracted thousands of people and I seriously cannot contain my excitement!

On another note...

I'm tossing around the idea of throwing a small royal wedding watch party/celebration reception that evening with my cousins and maybe a few friends.

{ Royal Wedding Party }

fancy tea + fresh english scones + strawberry champagne
cucumber sandwiches + mini wedding cakes
girl chat + wedding on repeat
= amazing evening!

Too fun right?!
I think I may buy some princess crowns and fake bling rings at the dollar store for us to glitz around in all evening!

In case you aren't excited enough, check out this AMAZING t-Mobile Royal Wedding spoof! The actors look exactly like the royal family - love it!

Hair Woes

I am in need of some serious girl help!
Sooo my hairstylist, who I happen to really like, recently increased her prices. At first I didn't think it was going to be a problem - perhaps a $5 - $10 fluctuation - but woah nelly was I wrong!!

She is now charging $95 for a partial colorweave (aka: highlight/foil) and $150 for a full!

Absolutely ridiculous!

I typically get my hair done every 5-6 weeks, so this insane pricing is not going to work. My only problem is that I finally found a stylist I love. I kind of think it might be time to do a little shopping for a new, equally lovable stylist, don't you think?

I know we all live in different parts of the country (so there is a price adjustment by city/avg income), but how much are you paying for yo' weave?

Frazzled in KC...

Mingle Monday - Let's Hop!

How are ya gals?
Did everyone have a delightful weekend? I know I sure did! BF got back late last night from Madison, and i loved every single moment of our trip - more details to come later!

I know that I have fallen into a rut of reading the same blogs, which I enjoy, but I am just really ready to discover some new ones!! Anyone in the same boat?

Juicy Tidbits

We need to catch up!!
I've been slacking on keeping all of you in the loop, so I thought I'd share a few random recaps and new info for your fabulous reading pleasure!

My goodness, there are so many things to be thankful for that make me smile lately, so let's catch up, shall we?

______________________________________

1) George Strait Concert Recap

Have I seriously not update you on the best weekend ever? Well here we go! BF and I went to Columbia to finally experience his much anticipated Valentine's/B-day present... George Strait in concert!

Lee Ann Womack and Reba were totally fab, but nothing beat the look on BF's face when George Strait {his country idol} sang his favorite song ("Amarillo by Morning" - so good!). I almost enjoyed watching BF watch the concert more than actually watching it myself, just because he had the cutest smile on his face as we sang all the words to every song.

Side note: I did attempt to capture this experience in photos. However, I couldn't really do that when my camera died before we could even successfully snap one picture! Boo.

2) Madison Trip

Time for vacation! This little blondie is heading north today for a little R&R. BF's sweet sister and her BF live up in Madison, so we are pumped to go visit them! They recently rescued a cute little puppy and I am excited to see this little fur ball!

{ Meredith, Kyle & Oliver - stolen photo from Mer's FB! }

It's also nice that they have planned everything for us. We are going to visit several breweries and chocolatiers as we tour the town - YUM! They plan to take us to all of their favorite places and restaurants to give us the full Madison experience.

I am also looking forward to our buddy time during the 8 hour car ride. I'm pretty sure BF is the funnest (yes, it's a word in my book) roadtrip partner in all the world... let the adventure begin!

{ BF and I in Tucson this winter }

PS- Any tips or advice from any other Madison goers?

3) New Recipes

A huge thank you to my dear friend Trish for sending me an awesome healthy recipe Web site... Skinny Taste! There are so many amazing, healthy but yummy recipes that I'm dying to try!!

{ Whole Wheat Blueberry Muffins? Yes, please!! }

{ Pineapple Bliss Cupcakes - Yum! }

I've been on the hunt for new recipes, so when she sent this it was like Christmas morning to me. Go visit Skinny Taste and check it out!

4) Wonderful Blog Friends

I can't thank ya'll enough for all of your kind, supportive and encouraging words on my Weekly Weigh-In series!

And I LOVED all the tips you gals gave me on traveling healthy!! I'm SO impressed! xoxo

______________________________________

So anyway, I'm so glad we got caught up (at least on my end) - what's new with you? I sincerely hope each and every one of you are having an unexpectedly good week, and if not, make that weekend count, girl!

Sending you lots of love, happy early weekend wishes, and hugs! From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for being such a blessing and making me smile. I love every single comment, e-mail, etc.! You're the BEST!

Weekly Weigh-In: Week 9

My scale won't budge!!
Darn it all to heck, no big news this morning. I half expected it after my brother was in town all weekend and we ate out constantly (ew).

I've been hitting it hard at the gym, so that I can keep pushing through to my next goal. I have told myself this is zero tolerance time. I am in my best friend's wedding in 2 months, so that means I have 8 weeks to get into bridesmaid shape! The fastest way to get there is cut out empty calories, extra carbs, eat fresh and up my workouts!

Due to crunch time, this also means no extras, no junk, no adult beverages, no excuses. There are only so many "my diet starts tomorrow" excuses until you're no longer comfortable in your clothes right? Right! So I'm ready to kick it in to extra high gear!

{ Weekly Weight Loss = 0 lbs }

{ Total Weight Loss = 6.2 lbs }

I really need to keep better track in my food journal of absolutely everything so that I don't forget about those little extras! I mean that glass of wine and that cookie always seem to miss my food journal... hmmm.

I also need to be extra careful and get my workouts in while I'm on vacation this weekend! Healthy snacks are needed for our 8 hour car ride and my running shoes/iPod are coming too!

Any help/tips/advice?
I need to focus and I just know you ladies have some awesome tricks of the trade!

Nothing tastes as good as thin feels!

Mingle Monday - Woah!

Better late than never, right?
Works been a little wild, but I am just now getting around to eating some lunch and updating my little blog - phew! Thanks to all of you who sent e-mails expressing your extreme concern for my overall well-being. I'm completely flattered that you were thinking of little ol' me!

Well, I hope your weekends were full of every single wonderful thing that you love - I know mine was! But enough about that, I will update you tomorrow fo' sho'!

{ Let's get to it!! }
